Comparing the console differences It seems like the PS3 and the XBOX360 are just so similiar you know what i mean? I mean yea there are some exclusives between them but it doesn't seem like there too different. For example i want you to think of the game libary differences between the PS3 and the XBOX360 Now start thinking about the older generations game library between these consoles Super nintendo vs genesis Sony playstation vs saturn vs N64 Sony playstation 2 vs XBOX vs gamecube I dont know if anyone else sees what i see but too me those consoles are completely different. You know like if your playing the sony playstation your getting a completely different experience then the saturn and the N64. Now a days your really not getting that. I get a better multiplayer on the 360 and a better single player on the PS3. Nothing too different between them just each are a little bit more polished then the others in certain areas. Going back to last generation lets look at the differences. The XBOX for multiplayer had the killer halo under its belt and sony tried and tried to better then but utterly fail. However Sony had the third person tactical shooter under its belt, Socom, making the people who liked the more simulating and realistic shooters go to the PS2. The gamecube didnt even have a diffenitive online game or shooter but it had super smash bros melee which hosted so many gamer parties and was one of the best fighters of all time. Hell if we even want to throw the dreamcast in it it had phantasy star online one of the first mmorpgs and certainly the first console one (it got ported but only because the dreamcast died). As you guys can see these consoles each had there own definitive experience and if you wanted to experience it you had to buy the console. Now a days between the PS3 and the XBOX theres nothing really different on each. You can call me what you want but i found a experience just as good as halo on the PS3 called Resistance 2. Games Another thing that i seem to notice is for some reason I know about every game that is coming out and is out. In fact if you give me enough time I can probably name 80-90% of every PS3 game and 360 game (not wii cause of the shovelware lol). I cant do that with any other console besides the virtual boy and thats because that only has about 40+ games. Why is that I can do this on the PS3 and 360 but not any other consoles. Maybe games have just been overly hyped and advertise today. You know what though I liked the days where I would pick up a game i never even heard of in my life and pop it in and play it and I would find out that it is a great game. I miss the days of going over friends house looking through what they got and seeing about 10 games that I have never played or heard of before. Now a days I look on store shelves and i know whats good and whats garbage. I played mostly everything thats out there. I go to a friends house and they dont have nothing new or different. Something has change the way games are being new and honestly i dont like it. I think reviews are too blame for this honestly and partialy the wii and ill get into that below Everyone does it now Something that I have notice is ever since everyone has start playing games its kind of not like this small group anymore games just dont feel the same. Difficulty is pretty much gone I mean some games offer it like demon's souls and death smiles but not much. So many games today like hold your hand through out the whole experience (Prince of persia literally does that actually lol). I'm not saying these games are bad but there definitely not what they could be. Some games are starting to lose depth and some multiplayer games want to be extremly noob friendly. XBOX live is filled with 6 years old kids who act like KKK members. Games usually aren't that long anymore. As you can see gaming has become so extremly mainstream and some people find this good and some find it bad personally I dont know what to think about it. Sure developers are getting more money but the developers that develop stuff that I guess "hardcore" gamers love it sells like crap a lot (especially on the wii which is why i think this sort of started on the wii but it has reached all consoles and I dont knock on the wii anymore cause its the only different console really). The best way I can explain how i feel about this is through this. Think about a cult classic movie that you like and mostly no one else likes it and they probably never heard of. Now I want you to mainstream it. Yea it's cool that everybody has seen it and love it just like you but it's not really like special anymore. It's going to be over hyped and it's just not going to be the same. Nothing is wrong with the movie it just kind of lost something if you know what I mean. Finish the ****** game This really gets me mad when developers do this kind of stuff. I am talking about DLC. And you know it's cool but some of it gets me mad. Why am i paying for a difficultly mode in mega man 9. Don't tell me that wasn't in the original game it was in it and you just took it out. Some people might say thats only one game but no theres a lot more. Gearbox are you telling me that you developed the zombie DLC in like under 2 weeks. Maybe it was a bit longer but either way that shit came out way too soon there was no way they develop it that fast it was obviously in the main game. Assassin's creed 2 ubisoft even admitted that the lost memories were originally in the game. Look im all into the DLC thing it's great it really is but don't start taking shit out of my game that belong there in the begging. Is 60$ not enough to get this game fully made. Anyways I might update this later with more issues but i just wanted to kind of express how I feel on gaming today at about 4 in the morning for some reason . Please Leave a comment and say how you feel about gaming. Also the reason i didnt talk about handheld gaming is because it is running perfect in my opinion. Sad how handhelds are more different from each other then consoles isn't it

You make some real good points that i totally agree with. Additional DLC that really should be in the game anyway REALLY pisses me off. If im paying £40-50 on a game i really dont want to fork out more money for points to get a fuller experience of a game that should already be there. Also, remember if a game was released on 2 consoles it was really quite different experience. right now Xbox and PS are just churning out the same stuff and only getting exclusives when they chuck money at the developers...its not based on wether the system is better for the job or not. only now is the ps3 really hitting its stride with some really fantastic looking games. I think more gamers is a better thing though. Also knowing about games is just down to us having the internet and not having to rely on biased magazines to give us game coverage. Much better if you ask me. |

Yea I just see it as a good thing and a bad thing. More gamers are cool and all but at the same time look at what were getting. We are getting 6 years old who again can pass off as KKK members. Fanboys which there is always going to be but now a days these fanboys are just so damn annoying. I mean I remember when call of duty modern warfare 2 came out and i was one of the best in my school for like a month or 2 then I stopped. People got so pissed at that I was cracking up. One person told me actually and again im going to use the term "hardcore" but heres what they told me "Why are you playing borderlands all the sudden I mean call of duty modern warfare 2 is the only good game ever made period the rest suck every hardcore gamer knows that". People agreed with him too lol couple people wouldn't add me on PSN cause I was just done with call of duty. So when it comes to more gamers it's cool but if there all like that then where probably better without them just my opinion though. |

Ds Games!

You summed up a lot of the reasons why I do more game playing on my ds than on my ps3. I've had way more interesting, and challenging experiences playing some 10-20 dollars games on my ds, than the 60 dollar games that look real nice but don't do a ton more on my ps3. I still love my ps3 for the online aspect like street fighter and bad company, but other than that I prefer everything else about the ds. |

I don't think the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned was done in 2 weeks. They probably started working on it when they finished the game which was probably in September, or early October. Besides the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned is the good kind of DLC because it's reasonably priced, and offered me a good 12 hours of gameplay. Can't beat that for $10 bucks, and games like Borderlands and Fallout should get a pass in that area considering how many hours of gameplay they already offer to begin with. If they were 6 hour games then I would be up in arms too, but Fallout 3 is like 30-60 hours long, and Borderlands took me about 35 hours to beat which is more than enough to justify a $60 dollar purchase. I mainly hate DLC where you buy an unlockable code that's like 8KB since it's already on the disc

Current developers and publishers abuse the 'DLC' concept today, turning it into a blatant attempt at furthering profit by lowering quality. |

lol yea but about 6 of those hours is spent picking up brains in that one annoying quest and if they started working on it before the game was released then why not maybe just delay the game a week or two and throw the zombie dlc in there.

Sorry for the double post and i agree a lot with you. The ds is a amazing console and not only that, it's completely different then the psp. If you want mario then you pick up a ds if you want metal gear solid you pick up a psp. Those consoles are both completely different giving you a good reason to pick up both. |

Great rant. Some of my thoughts: 1. DLC is being abused and gives companies that extra little incentive to hold back and not put everything into a game. Not saying that this is 100% the case, but it seems to be very high. 2. Different libraries for different consoles is a nice thing, but I don't mind as much if it crosses over to other consoles. 3. While it is nice that gaming has been a bit more mainstream, I do not like the attitude it brings at times. If you're not playing the most recent/'badass' game deemed epic by x amount of people, then you're not worth it. Though I know that is not the case all the time, it does get rather annoying@_@ |

So it wouldn't go up against Modern Warfare 2. They also have to submit the game in for manufacturing well before the release date so it wouldn't have been released until like Mid-December had they done that. Since I think the Zombie Island DLC came out at the end of November.

I buy DLC that interests me. For instance I bought Overlord and Stolen Memory for my 360 version of Mass Effect 2. I enjoyed SM very, very much and even though it was short, it was good. Not to mention I am now taking Kasumi to other missions. Borderlands DLC, GTA 4 DLC and FO3 DLC don't bother me either. Map packs do burn me up to no end. During the height of FPS gaming on the PC map packs were free. Maps that got people hired by the industry who make maps for the very extortionate companies today that do map packs via DLC. People seem ok with it too. I have probably over 1000 maps on games that look as good and offer more emergent gaming on the PC. Probably closer to 2000 actually now that I think about it. Maps that cost me nothing. Player Models too for that matter. Back when people like Epic needed player support. Now... screw us right who are we to expect a map that took 20 hours to make and reused art assets from an older game or the current game? |
