So I was playing my Ps3 when everything just stopped. I tried pressing the home button and it didnt work. I pressed the power button to turn it off then turned it on again. Well about an hour later it froze up again. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm almost ready to trade in my playstation for an Xbox. And I don't want to get rid of the best system I own. |

I called Sony because I will get kicked out of a game and sent back to my main menu, well needless to say that didnt help because I got nothing but computers. So I emailed them and am waiting for a reply. Any Ideas? |

I've noticed certain games, not the system itself, can cause freezing at times, though it seems to be rare. Is your PS3 in a well ventilated area? |

Yes all vents are able to breathe and and can get cool air. I emailed Sony about my other post about getting kicked out of games completely and thrented to sell my PS3 and get a 360. |

My PS3 constantly froze as well a while ago and I was able to find a solution on Sony's site or the manual or something (I don't remember). What I did was reset the system settings. You don't think it would work, but it does. After I did that, it worked fine and dandy. Hope this helps.

Resetting the system settings and/or upgrading your firmware should fix it. Worst case scenario it has a motherboard problem. I wouldn't say it's the laser since you said it froze on youtube as well. I would try all other options before jumping to that conclusion though

i rarely get freezing on my ps3 only Uncharted 2 upload a white screen and mw2 just freezes but like i said its rare |

Well it froze up on me again today while I was on the main menu so I'm thinking its totaly messed up  so I contacted gamestop and I will be trading it in for a 360. The thing is that none of my friends online have this as a big problem it happenes sometimes not everytime they try to get on.

Yeah, well for one, the internet browser sucks when it comes to running many windows at once, so that can freeze it up. Also, keep it ventilated, and yeah, BatMan is a freeze-up type game. As well as Fallout 3. I say deal with it. It's better than getting the RRoD. |

Clearly you didnt see that it froze up on me today without me even playing any games. Its in a well ventalted area. I have never had this problem before with my friends 360 that I borrowed for a month and will most likely take it down to Gamestop and get a 360. |

Fine, you COULD just exchange for another PS3. Sounds like you either got it used and the previous owner ruined it, or it's just the spoiled one of the bunch. Don't cry to me when that 360 RRoD's after 3 months time or after 3 hours of Halo. I'm telling you know that you'd be better off getting your money back or exchanging for another PS3 is system problems bother you that much. |

Yea I thought it over and I'm going to get a new PS3. Right now I'm just a little upset with sony because none of my freinds have this problem and my mom and dad say its because of downloading so I stand alone in a house of technophobes. |

freezing really could be anything, if i use the internet browser it will freeze alot. it also froze quite a bit when playing falllout 3 and tomb raider underworld... is your ps3 still under warranty? |

My PS3 only froze when I got off of the internet sometimes or when I tried to Facebook chat on it. But other than that, it's worked perfectly. And I think you would be better off sending it in and getting a new one over the 360. You already have all of the PS3 stuff, so selling it to get the same things on the Xbox isn't worth it. |

Just call Sony's support line (number is in the manual). Just be nice, explain what's going on, talk to them, and they'll most likely lay out all of your options. Since it's under warranty I'd say sending it in would be a good idea. And, see if you could return it even, idk where you bought it from and what that store's policies are. |

I bought it from wal-mart and have a year warrenty I wanted a 2 year but they didnt have it which is stupid. |

Well as long as it's under warranty still by Sony and the sticker isn't removed or touched, then they'll honor it as long as you explain it to them. Sending it in would be the best option, as it's a free fix. |

yeah as others have stated your best bet is to call sony and see your options, sending it in would be a free fix with the only draw back being you are without a console for a few weeks |

I've been getting that problem lately with Oblivion and Assassin's Creed II. Not saying that it's caused by the same thing, but for example, Oblivion tends to lock up and screeches the vgm when I fought Umbra for an extended period of time. And with Assassin's Creed, I executed about 6 Assassinate strikes in a row: 2 with doubles, and 2 singles over 10 second and the game froze too. Might be due to it being the old CECHA01 model, but who knows. Hopefully Sony will honor your warranty and fix the problem for you. |

I got an intercooler and its been working fine since. Don't know if it wasnt getting enough air or what. But the intercooler slim works and I highly recommend it to anyone having problems. |
