I have been looking at getting a new game for a few weeks here and am having trouble deciding what to get.

I know, it seems like a long time to pick out 1 video game to buy but I was recently laid off from my job and really have to watch what I spend my money on, and I don't want to pick up a game that I'll regret getting.

The only games I own are Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, and Oblivion. I know weak, huh.

Anyways I am trying to stay away from First Person Shooters, I am just getting really bored of them since its basically all I played since getting my Xbox in 07. Oblivion was great since there is so much to do and has great replay value but after playing it off and on for 2 years or so I have just got bored of it.

What I'm looking for:
- Good Story
- Replay Value
- Multiplayer ( Xbox Live optional)
- Lengthy & time consuming ( nothing that can be beat in 2 days)

Any Suggestions?

You know I was thinking about Red Dead Redemption as well but for some reason I really just never got that into the GTA series from Rockstar. That, and having a couple friends of mine who picked up the game were very high on the game before its release and they were left disappointed in it. Maybe they just needed to play it more but those two reasons made me a little skeptical but I will definitely keep Red Dead in mind.

Although I'm not the biggest fan in the world of it, Red Dead Redemption does seem like a good choice for you. Also, if you are wanting to go the cheaper route, Gears of War 1 and 2 both offer great campaigns, and Gears 2 Multiplayer is still going strong from what I hear. They are all kind of like shooters I guess, but a nice 3rd person deterrance from your standard FPS. Super Street Fighter 4 is pretty good if you like fighters, and that would be a different genre, great chance for multiplayer and replayability, but lacking somewhat on storyline and a campaign mode. For non multiplayer, I highly recommend Bioshock 1 and 2 also, and if you like oblivion, try Fallout 3. All of these except RDR should be resonably priced now as well...

You should check out Mass Effect 1/2, Dragon Age: Origins, and Fallout 3. They are all amazing games and will last you a long time. Also, you can find them pretty cheap now.

Tales of Vesperia - I highly recommend this game! It might be harder to find now but its well worth tracking down a copy.

Agreed. Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, and/or the Mass Effect games are your best choices.

Actually a buddy of mine let me borrow his Gears of War 2 game and I just finished it this morning. It is actually my first time I played any Gears game and I am really looking forward to Gears of War 3.

I will be calling around some local gaming stores to see if I can find a copy of Tales of Vesperia today. If I can't find anything I think I will look at either Lost Odyssey or Mass Effect as a second option. Appreciate the help everyone.

Although you listed multiplayer live game, I highly recommend Mass Effect 2. It has 3 out of the 4 things you are looking for.
