I'm a little surprised not to see any threads yet up for this store just on the outskirts of the Vancouver area. Not a bad little shop for the most part. They told me that they had just expanded the size recently. I liked the atmosphere there a lot and think they have a good thing going there.

Friendly staff who were interested in what you were willing to ask them and a fairly good library. I don't know how old the store is now and they might have been in a low stock season, but it seemed like they could have put out a little bit more high quality titles on various systems. There was basically no DC, Saturn, GC games at all. As I said I don't know if it was a low point being the summer or not, but seemed like they were a little dry when I was there.

The owner seemed like a nice enough guy. Overall a great store and would like to see it expand out some more. It's not quite as big as Nexwave out in Alberta, but I can see it getting that way in a few years if they decided to expand more.

Anyone else been out there at all?

Oh, I picked up some game manuals, maybe around 20, that they just happened to be holding onto in a box (some random and good stuff in there) for just 4 dollars. Also got a new copy of Yggdra Union for the PSP.

I would really like to go Game Deals, from what I see in the videos I would blow everything I have there. I live in the states and, well, yeah, I have almost no local game stores to pick up some retro games. I only have 1, and they are quite expensive on some of it. They also don't have as much retro things as what I've seen in the Game Deals videos.

It looks like a pretty cool shop, much better than the ones I have here in Dallas. There are a few but nothing that compares to that shop. I was actually thinking of buying a tshirt off their website.

Game Deals is a great store, but its about the people who work there and people who come down there to buy games and talk games.
Really great Atmosphere!

I agree with HCG. Having been to Game Deals a couple of times now, and hanging out with Brian (Owner) and the GDs gang, I can honestly say they are aweome people and deserve to have a great store as well.

I briefly met Brian, the owner, but he was too busy playing DQ IX, as you are too HGC it would seem. :p

I met the one girl that works there ( I think she was in the pax video and now has blue hair?) and she was pretty nice from what I got talking to her for about 5-10 minutes. I was surprised that the prices were pretty reasonable on a lot of things, not everything because all stores have that, and I could afford to get the things that I wanted.

I visit there once or twice every month. Everytime I visit, I always purchase a game or two.

2 Points here.

- We would have a lot more "high quality" titles (like other more expensive stores) if we priced them higher, but we price them to sell so they do.

- We have lots of Dreamcast, Saturn & Gamecube... not sure how you missed that. Most are in the black bin, the good stuff is in the glass case.

Is it kind of pathetic that going to GameDeals is really the only reason I would even consider traveling at the moment? I'll definitely have to check it out soon.

We have a store chain down here in NC called "Play n' Trade" who sells retro and modern stuff, but there's just not much of it. I go in there about once every other month or so and clean em out.

ive got a place around here called Level 8 video games. they have a real nice staff and are actually gamers, unlike the people that work at gamestop lol. im gonna do a walkthrough of the store next time i go, itll be cool to do that and it might give them a little more publicity because they deserve it. if i ever do go to canada i will definitly be visiting game deals as well

I did see the games in the bins but I guess I had too high of expectations. I did come back to the store a second time and some stuff had changed around (especially the PSP section). I think I just came during a bit of a down turn time and I really respect the prices that you have in the store as other places charge a lot more for the same games. Overall I still liked the store and the atmosphere.

I think the stuff in the display case just leaves the store as fast as it comes in and I just didn't manage to see anything I wanted at the time I was there. That just seems to be the case. :)

Gamedeals is an awesome little store. I initially found it through its mini web series (not through HCG unfortunately) and I went down to check it out as soon as I realized that it was in the Vancouver area. In the past while I've gone down there for at least one meetup (my ugly mug is on one of the website's buttons from a picture taken from that meetup... lol. :P) and sometimes for random gems. Unfortunately for now I've had to resist the temptation to pick up the odd classic or two but I do have one of their old t-shirts.

One thing I've liked is just some of the quirky touches they've added to the store; Not even just the gaming-style ones but just things that made me laugh such as "Please ask for assistance; Failure to do so will result in a six hour William Hung marathon." Sadly for me I'm a shy person, but I've had the honour of talking to Brian briefly a couple of times as well. To hear about Gamedeals makes me glad that indie game stores are still alive and kicking.

I'd honestly head down there more often, but taking the bus from the northeast sector takes time to even get down to skytrain sadly.

I was in BC a while back and I stopped into Game Deals to check out their selection. This was before I even heard about the Happy Console Gamer on Youtube and it was just another game store to me at the time, however I loved the selection and variety of titles from all generations. I thought that the prices were a bit high, at least compared to some of the shops I haunt in Toronto, but I saw some good deals as well. I didn't really have time to chat it up with the staff, but they seemed nice and were quick to ask me if I needed help or if I was looking for anything in particular. I'll definitely visit when I'm back in the Vancouver area and crop some cash on their merchandise.

I'm heading out to the area in about a month or so, looking forward to checking the place out. Looks like it's not so much just a game store, but a place to game/chill/chat/etc., which is always a good thing!

Also, super psyched that they're by a Skytrain station, as that'll be my main way around town when I'm there, and that's totally convenient. :)

There's been a recent influx of awesome PS1 RPGs in the store. They're moving fast, but I recommend that if you like PS1 era RPGs, get on down here and get 'em :D

I wish there was a store like Game Deals in my area. There's only two game stores in my area that sell older games, and everything is pretty much overpriced.
