I've never played FFIX and some people claim for it to be their favorite in the series. I've had the game forever and just never popped it in. I personally loved FFVII and FFVIII, their story lines and gameplay were just fantastic. I've been on a retro gaming spree and was really giving some thought on popping it in. Is it really worth the time and as great as everyone says it is? I'm really willing to give it an honest try if it is. |

I really enjoyed this game. Here are some things I think of when I start thinking of FF IX: 1. The story is not overly complicated and very easy to follow. Square went back to its roots and really went for something that was a calling to the older games in the series, which was something I loved. 2. The music is fantastic. I truly believe FF VIII and FF IX were some of Nobuo Uematsu's best work. FF IX has some unforgettable music, such as 'You're Not Alone', 'Hunter's Chance', 'Vamo' Alla Flamenco', 'Dark Messenger', and many many more. The music fits and enhances the mood of the game so well. 3. Chocobo Hot and Cold!!! This mini game had you using a Chocobo to attempt to find various treasures all over the world and on smaller area maps. This game can be so addicting. You use a chocobo to dig for the treasures and depending on how close you are, he give a 'Kweh.' The closer you are to the treasure, the greater/more exaggerated the KWEHHHHHH becomes. This could have been a game on its own. That's how much fun it is. 4. The battles are a bit slower paced and load times can be a little longer. However, I did not have too much trouble with it. 5. It's not very hard, even by Final Fantasy standards. So, if you are looking for a challenge, you're best bet is to either do the secret bosses or try to speed run it for one of the character's best weapons:D 6. Did you love the Tetra Card game from FF VIII? Well, prepare to be vastly disappointed as the one for FF IX is a grab in the dark. I enjoyed it, but I remember the card game got A LOT of hate from players at the time. So, you may feel that same level of disappointment@_@ 7. This game is pretty average in length. I think I beat it in less than 40 hours my first time through it, but I don't try to get everything when I play a game for the first time. 8. The battle system is very easy and standard. This might have been due to Draw System being slightly a drag on the battles in FF VIII. However, it could also simply be due to Square's attempt to 'relive' the older games in FF IX. 9. Vivi is in it! Though the game's story is simply, some of the characters are really enjoyable. I say some, because there were some that simply did not interest me, but different strokes for different folks. Ok, so, there are some thoughts I have about the game. I definitely recommend it, but, if you have not played some of the earlier FF games, I think you will miss out on a big part of the game's charm. However, it is not necessary that you do play those older games. Hope this helps. Have a good day! |

Thanks for info! It really is a big help. I'm a little disappointed that it's not very hard but I'm glad that it has really well done music. I never played anything pre-FFVII but starting with what some people call the best, may be the best place to start. |

Not hard huh? Wait till you face a certain 'biblical' Boss that will catch you totally by surprise (I think most people know who i'm talking about lol) |

I did say the special bosses provided more of a challenge to the game@_@ I actually didn't know that book boss existed until my 3rd time playing the game and it was rather easy by that point for me. However, I can totally see that boss being a pain, if you're not well prepared or suspecting the fight. |

Final Fantasy IX is my favorite in the series, I mean I even have Vivi as my display picture lol FFIX isn't only my favorite FF game of all time, but it happens to be one of my favorite games of all time. I would recommend this to anyone that loves old school rpgs or just plain loves a great story, great cast of characters, and adventure
