Pete mentioned at the end of episode 4 that if we were at all inspired by the guests' stories, we shoud share our thoughts. While I can't imagine myself going after a complete collection of a certain system's games any time soon, I'm warming up to the idea of dabbling in collecting for fun. I'm really big into music, which has made me want to collect game soundtracks. The only problem is that buying non-counterfeit soundtracks is really expensive, but as long as I only buy one every once in a while I should be fine. Just the other day I plopped down $30 on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 OST. And while I wait for that to arrive in the mail, I'm arranging my bookcases so that I can display the few game soundtracks I have already. Another type of video game collectable that has interested me lately is video game novels. For example, the "Worlds of Power" books that were each based on a specific NES game, or the "Nintendo Adventures" series of choose-your-own-path type stories featuring Mario and Zelda. I also want to pick up some of the "Doom" novels since they look like such cheesy yet fun reads. Did anybody else feel inspired to begin (or continue) collecting because of this episode? |

Whilst I was a collector before I listened to Episode 4, it has definitely made me want to go to some more "Car Boot Sales" than I usually do and also hunt some down that I don't know about and see what they have. I have found a couple of cheap items there but nothing special. I want to try and collect for the Gameboy more and the N64. Other than collecting the games, I'm also starting to build up a collection of merchandise such as figures and posters. |

Although I already put quite a lot of time into my collection on a daily basis, Episode 4 definitely gave me a strong desire to head out and make some more purchases. It's nice to hear about other people's finds. I checked out a couple Yard Sales today, but nothing to be found. So instead, I made a trip into the city and picked up 38 new PS2 games, and put through a mass-order on the Sonic the Hedgehog comics that I'm missing. Hopefully those will arrive within the next week or so. |

I have been collecting mildly for a while now, starting to take it a bit more seriously in 2010. The last episode inspired me to stop at yard sales. I was visiting my family, and we ended up stopping at 3 close by yard sales very quickly and it was fantastic! I got a brand new lap desk for my girlfriend for a dollar, and I also picked up a Nintendo DS carrying style (original style) and a Game Boy Advance SP carrying case for 50 cents each. Both of these were official Nintendo carrying cases. I should have asked everyone if they had more games however. |

It definitely made me remember a lot of the great deals I've found, and I can definitely say that getting that one good find makes the 30 trips without finding anything totally worth it. I've recently moved so I can't go to my normal spots, including a local retro game store, which sucks but I'm still trying. I recommend everyone go out and start looking because you'll never know what you'll find. I'm not the kind of person that would want a complete collection for any system. I started off buying whatever I could find, but since then I've slowed down and am buying games I actually want to play and personally I find it more satisfying. If you're into completing a collection, more power to you, but that's too much dedication, money, space, and unplayed games for me. |

No, but it did inspire me to go to Goodwill more often. Back in college I used to go there a few times a week, but since graduating I got out of the habit. |

If you are into that, you should also look into video game related manga. I have the original Strider manga, which Capcom's NES game is loosely based upon. Also, I hear there are some Halo novels, which might be a fun read. -ud |

Nah, I already got back into my collector mindset some time last year. Slowed down a lot the first half of this year and didn't buy much. Now I'm more than making up for it. I don't want a complete collection. I just want a super huge variety of games spanning many genres and the best of each genre, and then quirky titles that aren't well known. My main preference is the DS. I buy for it the most and it's my main system. |
