I actually got to use the Kinect!

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending the FanExpo, which is Toronto's answer to Comic Con, and I actually got to test out the Kinect at the Xbox 360 booth that was set up. The game was some kind of dancing simulator and they were showing how the Kinect responds to your every move. Surprisingly, it worked very well. It picked up on all my moves flawlessly and I was amazed at how it was able to distinguish me from the crowds of people walking behind me (this was out in the open at a crowded convention). I was suitably impressed, despite the fact that I looked foolish prancing around trying to control the game. I don't think I'll buy it since I have limited space to use it, but I can at least confirm that it actually works quite well.

As a side note, Sony was also there and they were displaying the Playstation Move. I didn't get to play it, but from what I saw, it handles exactly like the Wii and the game they chose to display was table tennis. Ho-hum.

Kinect is a really interesting concept to me. It reminds me of the virtual reality things you read about in manga or books. I'm really happy to hear that it works well :)

Playstation Move on the other hand, it will have more M rated titles unlike the Wii. It's also in HD. Those are it's only 2 selling points in my opinion :/

I hope that the Playstation Move has a better selection of adult-oriented games that aren't just gimmicky.

The Kinect worked remarkably well, but it felt strange to not hold anything in your hands that controls the action on the screen. I guess I'm just used to the Wii. My only hope is that retail versions work as well as the one on display that I got to try. Sometimes what you see at a convention works differently when you have it in your home.

Very cool, I remember when I tried out Wii Motion Plus the day before it was out at a Gamestop.
I felt special. ^_^

Do you know what the game was called? Was it Dance Central, the Harmonix dance game?

I'm not sure what game it was, but it was a dancing game, so it might be the one you're referring to. It was fun at the convention and my friend was kind enough to record me dancing like a crazy person to the game.

Well glad that it works. I am going to be buying the move first even though I have like 5 feet of room in my game room lol.
