Do people still play it online? I think the story is short. ^o)

I think its worth getting the game for the story and or co-op gameplay but I wouldn't really suggest getting it for online deathmatch play. The last time I played the game online (which was one of the first times I played online) I got beat up pretty badly.

It seems as though there are a tight niche of people that play the game together all the time and constantly heckle and harass anyone who comes onto their "turf". I wasn't very fond of the trash talk and attitude of the people playing and the cheap tactics of dropping out of the game and switching sides to gang up on weaker players. They just seem really rude. Gears 2 always seemed to be fine when I played it though. Especially on the Horde mode.

People are still playing but they have a aura of elitism about them.

Unlike the graw 2 community which is one of the best shooter communitys ive come across always happy to lend a hand to new players and just play for fun

well If you have GoW 2 and not 1. If you get the first one you will get the characters from the first one in the multiplayer for the 2nd

The campaign is short averaging around 5-7 hours. However, that is a pretty badass 5-7 hours in co-op and it's worth the $15 or so it costs nowadays to experience it. The campaign in the first game is way better than Gears of War 2's campaign.

I'm going to say yes, when you have good friends on Xbox Live sometimes you want to take a break from other games and someone will say hey anyone want to play gears one.

Other then playing the game that way I would say no if you just wanted to jump in. I think most people moved on to Gears 3.

But the game is cheap now so I'll give it a light buy for online play.

I don't have high speed internet available at home, so I didn't experience the online mode. And since I can't play online, I don't play many shooters....so my opinion may not be the same as some of you hardcores out there. But I think Gears of War is worth it for the campaign, even though it's rather short...but that's normal for a game like this, I guess. Except for the ending, some of the earlier levels were harder than the last ones, but maybe that's just me. IMO, the thing that kind of ruined my overall experience was the last boss. Even though I'm fairly new to shooters, I still thought it was bullshit. Not giving any spoilers away, I lost my patience after 2 hours of replaying the last fight scene, so looking online on how to beat the game wasn't what I had in mind. I had no feeling of accomplishment after that, but I simply couldn't just turn it off either. They should have thrown in a hint button after so many tries, but I'm sure the hardcore gamers loved it. Overall, I still think it's worth the low price it's selling for these days, definitely.

I loved the game, but I feel ya on the last boss. I play games like this on the easy modes usually, and I went through the game pretty quickly, but got to the last boss, and was stuck there for about 4 hours. Then i co-op'ed the last boss with a friend who had beaten the game on harder difficulties several times, and it still took about an hour and we only finally beat him when he glitched one time. I'm not saying that boss fights shouldn't be harder than the rest of the game, but make it comparable to the gameplay... don't make the game raise in difficulty like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 956, ending...

Yeah no kidding.....I asked a few friends that played through Gears of War after posting this and asked them about the last boss, and they all were like..."Oh, I didn't beat the entire game, but was right there at the end." So yeah, that's not cool...I like working at a last boss, but I like to no if I'm progressing with my strategy. All your doing is guessing here....they should have added a life bar for the enemy atleast.

For me, it reminded me of playing a certain game, where I'm just going in circles, not knowing where to go....I try everything I can possibly think of......then, I'm like..."Maybe I'm supposed to leap onto that cliffside right there." *player jumps* *player falls to his death* "Nope, that's not it." ***Waste 3 hours trying every possible thing*** Then, go back to the same platform again. ***player jumps, grabs on the platform, and pulls himself up***

"Well, I'll be damned."

I played GoW with a friend in Campaign Coop. I think the game is worth the money especially if you get it used for the price of a gourmet coffee.
