Westwood released all of the old Command & Conquer games as free downloads a while back, and I just installed them all as I now have a PC I intend to use for "retro" PC gaming. What I want to know is if anyone can direct me to some other games that have been LEGALLY made free to download, or if there is a site dedicated to such a thing? |

Yeah, I actually found a list on Wikipedia of all freeware games. But now I can't seem to figure out the controls for half of them...any tips on that? Can't put items in my inventory in System Shock because I don't know how to! Haha. Here's the freeware list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_commercial_video_games_released_as_freeware |

You can go to places like "abandonia" or "Home of the underdogs". I've used them a few times. I've heard people say that not all the games are legal, but all it takes is for the company to call them and they block the download. Now that all these old developers have gone bust, been rebought, then that company has gone bust, then been rebought etc so many times that i reckon the current owners dont know they own all this stuff. to be honest i reckon EA probably owns it all... you can get the VGA remakes of Kings Quest I and II and Quest for Glory II: Trial by Fire for free from AGD Interactive (http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/games.html) You can get the VGA remake of Kings Quest III for free from Infamous Adventures. (http://www.infamous-adventures.com/home/) Infamous Adventures is also in the beta stage on there remake of Space Quest II! These remakes are very well done, probably just as good as Sierra would of redone them and well worth checking out. |
