now before i begin this rant i have one thing too say, i like the 360, just some things makes me pissed with this console, so shall we begin? i know this is obvious but, why in this steaming HELL does the 360 still have the red ring of death? i know that the new one some how doesent get the RROD, but why? its been 5 years since its launch! your telling me that microsoft STILL hasent come up with a solution? there like the most richest company in the world! that cant come up with some extra bucks too fix this!? there should be no reason for a game system to fail. i have my NES from the 90's, and it still works. what else is kinda stupid, you know those red ring's that come up when the 360 gets the RROD? that means that microsoft KNEW ths was gonna happen. so why didnt they fix it? any way dont be hateing just because i said some facts about the 360 that you dont like. and be nice to one another!! bye bye! |

Why does it fail? Because it's Micro$oft, and all they want is more of your money. |

While the failure rate of 360's (especially early ones) is inexcusable (I believe it's at least 30-40%), you have to consider some other things too. I don't think you'll argue that a 360 is more complicated than an NES. There are more moving parts in a 360 (there are NONE in an NES), so mechanically the more pieces you have, the more likely one will fail. The RROD is an overheating issue, which a non-disc based system like the NES would never have to worry about. Computers fail all the time, and a 360 is essentially a very powerful computer. Microsoft has remedied the issue to an extent, but you can't seriously expect them (or any company) to predetermine every possible problem that could ever come up under any circumstance. They realized overheating was a possibility, so they included the RROD warning as a clear indication as to what the problem is. If your 360 inexplicably shut off, wouldn't you rather know what the problem is rather than not? |

I'm getting serious deja-vu with this topic - I'm sure it's been discussed over and over again. But no matter... The RROD is a big problem that Microsoft and Xbox 360 fanboys have downplayed and dismissed, but none of the gaming companies has the midas touch when it comes to hardware reliability. Every console on the market has a failure rate and the 360 unfortunately boasts the highest. The new slim models seem to be more reliable and I know many owners who have had no problems, whereas their old Arcade and Pro models bit the dust long ago. |

They havent banned you yet ? Btw technically RROD is almost never seen of now. Not only due to new chipsets but also due to other hardware revisions |

comparing a 360 to an NES is like comparing a car to a bicycle. Lots of people have to take their cars in for maintenance every day. It's not to often you see someone returning a bike because it broke down. Less parts = less chance of failure. It's why your pencil and paper still work when your typewriter breaks... |

Ha, great analogy eSkilliam. The slim apparently fixed all that malarky. The only people who still ramble on about the RRoD are sillybilly fanboys who have nothing better to do than try and hurt a consoles feelings. In other news, NES sucked. That flappy door thing was stupid.

Top loader also fixed a lot of the 72 pin connector issues. So see, even the NES was not without fault. Bottom line is that Microsoft never denied the failure rate, and imo they took pretty good strides to please their customers. |
