So some people have been waiting for this, and it's probably going to get ugly, but what wins the Mega Drive/Genesis or the SNES? For me it's tough, but I would have to say that the SNES wins. Here's why: Larger third-party support First party titles Better graphics/sound Better carts/boxes (I liked the cardboard boxes) Better controller And probably most importantly Rareware! |

I prefer the Mega Drive, but to be honest it is probably because of nostalgic reasons. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Sega did better in the UK, at least among my friends. I don't remember anyone having a SNES, it was always Master System and MD. I'm not saying that the SNES doesn't have better sound and graphics, I just prefer the MD games library. I must have about 30 MD games but only 4 SNES games lol. I prefer the plastic MD cases because they are easier to display, I prefer the MD controller because it fits in my hands better (though I do love the fact that the SNES controller has shoulder buttons). In other words, they are both great systems, and it really just comes down to personal preference.

I love both consoles but the megadrive still wins for me. I think im actually quite the opposite on your views too haha. I think they both have quite a bit of 3rd party support, not always a good thing either. Personally i think certain companies just developed for them due to the stranglehold they had on the market previously and were expecting the same again. I think its 1st party games are just fantastic and imo better than nintendos. The better graphics and sound really depends on the developer, have you listened to flashback or urban strike on the snes? They sound awful compared to the MD. I much prefer the MD cases too, they're sturdy keep everything dry and dust free, keeping the game AND manual safe. Im 50-50 on the controller, i like the lay out on the snes one but the controller is a bit too small for me. But the bottom line is that the master system is actually the best!

i would have to say super nintendo. I remember I begged my parents to get me the genesis when it came out - loved sonic - but everybody i knew had a snes instead. That didn't deter me though. However, after awhile i started to prefer the snes because of the loads of rpgs that were on it. The only rpg i had on the genesis was Shining in the Darkness. I do know that there are good rpgs on the genesis but i don't think it compares to the snes. |

Yeah, the Mega Drive did sell more in the UK than the SNES, but as always it comes down to the US for which console wins the war. And on a side note, I've actually played my Genesis more than the SNES, but only because I don't have the SNES at my house, been somewhere else since the 1990s, but I do love the Genesis still and I had a hard time picking between them. |
