I'm planning on picking up an Atari 2600 within the next week and I really need some advice for games. Finding lots without getting duplicates is really hard on ebay and also getting the system with good games is hard. Buying individual titles is extremely expensive. I know most Playntrade & Retro stores carry them but they usually have not many in stock or just the usual Asteroids, Space invaders, Yars Revenge which you can find anywhere. Any advice for finding Atari 2600 titles for cheap without issues?

When I used to have an Atari 2600 (owned a few over the years). I got most of my games at yard sales. I would often be able to buy a box full of Atari games for only $20 or so (50 games or more per box). It was cool. I'm sure you could find some good yard sales if you look hard enough. People who don't value those old games will sell cheaply.

As far as games go, some of my favorites when I had an Atari were Pitfall, Pitfall 2, River Raid, River Raid 2, Enduro Racer, and Jungle Hunter.

I went ahead and purchased one on ebay today. My ebay bucks certificate fully funded the purchase so it's literally free :) It came with:

Dragon Fire
Berzerk
Pitfall
Donkey Kong 2
Comando Raid
Circus Atari
Journey Escape
Space Cavern
Mario Bros.
Space jockey
Towering Inferno
Frogger
Outlaw
Combat
Asteroids
Basketball
Missile Command
Infiltrate
Space Invaders
Yars Revenge
Warlords
Mrs. Pac-Man
Pac-Man
River Raid

I definitely want to pick up Montezuma's revenge. It was one of the reasons why I wanted an Atari in general. I also want to pick up any awesome arcade ports.

Make your first couple purchases multi game lots from ebay. For about 20 bucks you can get more or less all the must haves in a single box. From there, the best way to go is to fill in the holes by snooping around forums and seeing who has doubles of what for sale/trade. Avoid single game ebay sales unless it's a game you REALLY want.

Also, http://www.atariage.com has a rarity guide. That will come in handy. Good luck!
Hey guys. I run a youtube channel, and I also have a podcast. I have been broadcasting for about four years now. Come see me sometime!

I hear ya. I picked up pretty much all the essentials in another lot but I am having a hard time finding the singles that I need. Montezuma's revenge is also not a cheap game to find :/

Thanks for the advice tho, i appreciate it :)
