I have put in about an hour or so into this game so far and am really enjoying it. It is a platformer and an interesting one. You play as a shadow of a boy, which was cut off from the boy and thrown off a tower. The shadow boy is joined by the shadow in the shape of a butterfly. The butterfly shadow helps move tangible objects, which manipulates the objects' shadows allowing the shadow boy to navigate through the stage. The shadow must climb the tower in hopes of reunited back with his body. Some notes: The music is very minimal, so far, but has been fitting. The hasn't been any spoken dialogue, but there are small 'memory banks' where a few lines can be read telling various different things. You get a sword to fight different monsters and can take fall damage. This game was released back in July in Japan for the Wii by Hudson Soft. The odd thing was was I couldn't find it anywhere until a few weeks ago@_@ Now, I have a little bit of time to get into and wanted to share some information with you guys:D I have no clue if it will be released anywhere else, but if you have a way to play Japanese Wii games and love platformers, you might want to give it a try:D Some notes with pictures: ![]() The game:D ![]() The wii channel preview thing. I always like this kinds of things:p ![]() Opening Image ![]() There are 4 files available. It tells you the last day you played it, max health, total time, location and percentage so far. ![]() The game is kinda hazy, which I think is a nice little touch. The staff with the red dot are things you have to collect to get to the next stage; you have to collect 3 of them. Beside the red-dotted staff, is the shadow boy. Below, is the butterfly shadow, which is navigated with the wii pointer. ![]() The smaller shadow to the left is a random 'memory bank'/info spot. The shadow on the right is the wall that stop you from continuing the game. These are not at every stage of the game, but if you haven't collected all three yet, you will get hurt. The health is displayed up in the top left, but if you haven't been hurt or gain more health, it will not display. ![]() The menu screen. Rather basic, it tells stats about the character as well as it has a map to the right where the character's location is denoted by the white dot. ![]() Gates to another realm. Almost like a mini boss, as it will save when you enter it, you must get through it before you can continue. ![]() Standing on these and pressing on the directional pad will rotate the camera altering the stage completely. I hope this will pique some interest for you guys and hopefully it will get a release elsewhere. Thanks for reading and have a good day! |

If you'd be so kind, can you may talk to NoJ about bringing this game to the US as a 3ds game? Thanks for any help. |

I remember reading about this game a few months ago (or longer, haha) in an issue of Nintendo Power. I remember being fascinated by the concept of playing as a shadow, using the environment's shadows as a stage, and just the overall style of the game. It's actually supposed to be released here in North America on January 4, 2011 (titled Lost in Shadow); those pesky Europeans got it on the 15th of this month (titled A Shadow's Tale)! Any thought on the gameplay? |

Really? I didn't know that; thanks for the info:D I like the gameplay so far, but I wouldn't say it's perfect. The fighting is okay. It's hard to get used to, I think. The platforming has been fun. Jumping seems strange at first, but I got used to it pretty much instantly. The puzzles haven't been too hard, but hopefully, they'll get more difficult as I progress through the game:) Something I find really interesting to note is the game is layered, meaning while you have to concentrate on shadows, since that's where the bulk of the game is taking place, you also have to break that concentrate to solve different puzzles by looking at the walls, rails and other tangible objects. Not trying to sound cheesy, but you will definitely get lost in the shadows, if you concentrate solely on the shadows. Plus, if you do that, you miss all the cool scenery in the game:( I really like the game and it saddens me that a majority of the gaming magazines have given substandard scores. I hope that that will not deter people from getting the game@_@ |

I knew I'd pick it up as soon as I saw it in Nintendo Power xD Seems like it may be another one of those "under the radar" Wii games. I can't wait to pick it up! |
