I'm about to go pick up my pre-order in about an hour from EBGames, I'm hoping to do a review/unboxing on it.

Also comes with a golden classic pro controller

Has anyone else got it yet?

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

I bought it yesterday morning, though I haven't opened it yet. I got the edition with the gold Classic Controller Pro. Also got a free t-shirt with it, since I bought it at Wal-Mart.

The reviews have been pretty good, so I'm itching to tear into it!

Sega Does What Nintendon't

Picked up my copy tonight but I haven't got to play it yet. I am going to play it in the morning when I get home. I picked up the Walmart bundle as well so I could get the tee-shirt.

After playing the game some this weekend I have to say I was rather disappointed. I was expecting Goldeneye to be a 100% pure remake of the original but after playing it nothing seems even close to the N64 title. First off Pierce Brosnan was replaced with Daniel Craig in the game. I know he is the new James Bond but I would of rather had Pierce in the game since he was the actor that stared in Goldeneye. The original stages are for the most part intact but have extra movies and cut-scenes added that make the gameplay feel totally different. The stages also feel a lot different from the N64 version because of how dark and dirty looking they are now.

The main complaint I have with gameplay is that when you reload your weapon the background blurs out. This is unacceptable, the original N64 title didn't even do this so there is no reason for this to be in the game other than it being rushed.

Overall its a good game but just not what I was expecting. For this to be a full price game or cost $70 with a controller It should of been more polished.

Majin you pretty much summed up my fears for the game. Golden Eye and Perfect Dark using the GE maps were the quintessential reasons why I played consoles back when I was a huge pc gaming nerd. I am not sure remaking a classic that hung its hat on social gaming of the late 90's could be recaptured.

I don't mean that I thought the game would stink. I was just not sure that the game would be anything we haven't seen this generation or even last generation. GE's spot was filled by Timesplitters on the Gamecube afterall. I'll wait until this is a bargain bin game and I'll just go grab the black pro pad.

My big beef with the game so far is that they rerecorded the theme almost note for note; I thought it sounded different in the beginning, but I wasn't sure. Then, later on in the song, I just knew it was someone else singing. Turns out it was some chick from the Pussycat Dolls.

What was the point of rerecording it if it sounds almost exactly the same? Tina Turner's version had more feeling.

Other than that, I haven't found anything to complain about; it's a different game. It's like in movies, where you see that "Based on true events" message: This is the same deal; "Based on another game". It's like a new interpretation. I'm not very far into the game though, so there's plenty of time to find something to complain about, haha.

The background blur is supposed to be your eyes focusing on the weapon to reload it. It's supposed to be a realistic touch, but I think it just falls short. It is intentional, however, not a game flaw due to it being rushed.

I will agree that the game is different. However, if it was just a port of the original, it would have just been a Virtual Console release instead of a retail release. The game falls short in that it tries to imitate Call of Duty instead of going back to its roots.

I think the game would be more enjoyable if it weren't tagged as being a remake of the original, but more of another game based on the same franchise.
