I was thinking of getting a arcade stick since I'm really getting into fighting games now, and it would be great for other games I have or plan on getting such as SHMUPS. Also the SFIV one looks great as it's easy to hook up to my PC to play emulators and MAME. I was thinking of getting a Street Fighter IV stick (Standard Edition) since it's now only $50. Problem is I can't find one anywhere. Does anyone know if these are still being made or not? I see lots of the Tekken bundles for the same price, but I've heard so much bad about that stick. If anyone has experience with that stick can anyone comment on it? |

Pretty sure they were limited. I know when SF4 came out the sticks were limited, and when SSF4 came out they were limited, and then brought back for a short while and then gone for good I believe. I picked up the champ edition one from gamstop for 150 dollars(SSF4 version). If you can find it, it's very durable and heavy, amazing quality on the thing. EDIT: http://www.amazon.com/Street-Fighter-FightStick-Tournament-Playstation-3/dp/B0038KMOXK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1289018546&sr=8-2 I can back that one, I know its pricey but I can assure you of it's quality. Unfortunately the TE stick is out of my price range right now. I would definitely consider it if I had the money. But ebay seems it will come through for me. There are quite a few buy it now listings for $60 with free shipping on them. I think I'll have to do that. Thanks for the information. I thought it may have been limited considering how hard it is to find one. They'll no doubt release the exact same stick for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken next year with just a new look and the price point reset. Any comments on the Tekken stick for anyone who may have used it? I'm still not 100% sure which stick I should get. I'm trying to save as much money as possible, but if the Tekken stick is really bad I will go with the SE stick. I'd love to try to play an FPS with that thing. |

I was thinking of other games I would like to play with one, I thought of trying an FPS. But how would you aim? It only has one stick, although the Street Fighter stick has a switch that allows it to act as either the right or left stick as well as the d pad. Still can't see myself winning any online FPS games with that though. |

Ugh, this has to be the worst possible thing in my search for a fightstick. Walmart just had a sale on the fight stick with Street Fighter IV included for just $30. At the time I didn't have a credit card with me and in the morning when I did and checked they were all sold out. ![]() They seem to be impossible to find for a reasonable price in Canada. |

That's a good deal, but SSF4 has a ton more stuff in it, and a lot of the online community has switched, so don't be too upset you missed out. Any change of plans yet to just go with the tournament edition, or your going to wait it out? |

I was thinking of trading in the game towards buying SSF4 since it's even a great deal for just the stick. Right now I think I'll have to wait it out unfortunately, have to save for university and stuff. Although the TE stick does look really nice. |

Not sure if I'm late to the party here, but as far as the SF4 Standard Edition Fight Stick goes, it's actually is no longer in production. You can still find them out and about, but once those are gone that is it. As far as that stick goes, it's pretty decent out of the box, especially if you like Japanese style sticks. If you don't like Japanese style sticks, this thing is going to take some getting used to. Personally I think the Mad Catz knock off parts are better than anything you'd find in another companies knock offs. If you can scrounge up enough to get a TE Fight Stick though, you'd definitely be better off, as it has better and more reliable Sanwa parts. I have both, and I've had to replace a couple switches in my standard edition stick, but my TE is still going just fine. Also, if you decide later on you want to upgrade the parts in the Standard Edition stick, it pretty much brings you to the price point of a TE stick anyway. But if you just want something casual, the Standard stick is pretty damn decent out of the box. And as far as that Tekken stick goes, just keep in mind that with Hori, you kinda get what you pay for, as their cheaper end stuff uses knock off parts that can't be easily replaced, and they attach their buttons directly to a PCB board. Basically that means if a button goes bad, you're pretty much out of luck. Both versions of the Mad Catz sticks, and the higher end Hori stuff is all plug and play. Anyway, hope that helps a bit. Looks like being located in Canada is going to be your main problem, since Canadian Amazon doesn't seem to be running the same deals as USA Amazon, and USA Amazon won't ship to Canada. If you know someone in the states that you trust, maybe your best bet is to have them pick it up and ship it out to you. |

I actually like my Hori Fight Stick 3. It is USB, works with the PC and is Japanese style. Googled It can be upgraded if you are into that but it works solid without it. It is great for actually playing NeoGeo arcade games with Kawaks online. And then it was great to unplug and grab up SSF4 on the PS3. The PC needs some remapping software to convert the jstick angles but it worked the treat. It is also cheap. |

Hey Hooflung... are you sure you can upgrade that stick easily? I haven't cracked open that particular stick, but if it's anything like the Dead or Alive or the revised Xbox 360 Fighting stick, those sticks have the buttons hard connected to a PCB, so it's not an easy swap. If it's a simple plug and play, that's a pretty sweet deal tho. Also, Mad Catz is having a buy 1 get 1 free deal on their TE Fight Sticks through this weekend. That's a pretty sweet deal too. Find a friend who wants one, and it's only $75 for a TE stick. Not too shabby. |

There is a YT vid of someone upgrading them. I guess 'easy' is subjective but it can be done as I've watched it. Ymmv if you want direct swaps to be plug'n'play.

I was considering that. I could do $75 for the stick, unfortunately they also don't ship to Canada. |

Finally found a reasonably priced stick online that won't kill me with shipping. Ordered it online from walmart for $40, shipped to a store. Just need to go to the States for the day to pick it up, better than spending $100 to ship it here though. Link if anyone else is interested: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mad-Catz-Official-Street-Fighter-IV-FightStick-Xbox-360-Xbox-360/11980203 However, walmart says the shipping weight is 4 pounds. On my Fed Ex page they say the weight of the package is 7 pounds. I don't see why there would be so much difference. |

Looks like you found the stick you were originally looking at for a reasonable price... good stuff! Out of the box it's pretty decent, and if modding is your thing, it's very easily mod-able since it's all plug and play on the inside. Maybe the difference in shipping weight is due to packaging? |

I would think that 3lbs for shipping material is heavy but I honestly wouldn't know as I've never had to worry about that stuff. Also I wonder because the walmart page says that the 4lbs is the shipping weight, not the product weight. |

I dunno, but the stick definitely has some weight to it, especially with the top panel where the artwork is being made of all metal. It probably weighs about 5lbs or so out of the box would be my guess. |
