Mobile Light Force; worth it?

Since I am in a buy-every-shmup-I-see mode, I have been aching to pick up a copy of mobile light force from the flea market. I enjoy the 2nd one well enough, and it would only cost me about $5.

However, I do have the option of playing jap saturn games, and I am sure that Gunbird is much better on the saturn. However, it is also about $25. I have heard that on either system this isn't the greatest shmup ever.

So, I need help deciding whether to get the jacked-up xs version, drop the extra money for the original, or just not get either and get a better shmup.

Mobile Light Force for the PS1 is good. But it shares nothing in common with the 2nd game on the PS2 using the same name ( unless you get Gunbird 1 and 2 for the PS2 ). MLF2 on the PS2 is Castle Shikigami 1. MLF on the PS1 is Gunbird so expect a completely different experience and psuedo story.

FPS may drop on you but its not bad overall. I got MLF 1 and 2 off amazon for under 20 bucks sealed for both.
