I made this thread so that people can talk about little things that really irk them, as a way of venting about it, so here's mine. "OMG, I'm such an Indie-Rock kid, that any band that has mild success and signs to a major label is instantly bland, mediocre, not doing anything original, and only Silversun Pickups know how to make good music!" |

Musically-speaking, snobbery is one of my main pet peeves. You have these music fans who dislike anything with a shred of popularity and like to flaunt that they only listen to obscure and unknown bands. They like to be pretentious and discuss how their music taste is miles ahead of everyone else's, which annoys me. I love a lot of music, and my taste can easily be classified as eclectic, but I respect the taste of others even if it's not in alignment with my own. You'll never hear me say things like "your taste is gay" or "why don't you listen to real music for once". My brother, on the other hand, is a grade-A snob. He'll hear a song and always have a comment about how some other obscure band is so much better and this is crap. It gets rather annoying. |

Seeing people blatantly not obey traffic laws really really annoys me to no end, for different reasons such as it being dangerous and careless for one, and also for the arrogance some people have to just not care if they're driving somewhere they shouldn't be or are parked somewhere they shouldn't be. |

I think snobbery in general really rubs me the wrong way. Mainly people that get married, have kids and then look down at everyone that hasnt done this, Only taking advice from people married longer or with more experience of children. They become this crazed people that cant see that they are being short sighted patronising snobs. Can you tell this is a rather fresh subject for me? haha 1. how do i benefit from marriage in this day and age? 2. Im not ready for a kid, YOUR not ready for a kid! 3. Didnt you meet each other like a month ago? Ha this thread was created in perfect time for my rant.

Snobbery must be a popular pet peeve. I also have that. I don't like when people are snobbing for anything. |

Here is my #1 Pet Peeve: When people ask how you are but don't really care to know the answer. It like it is part of scripted conversation where you are just supposed to respond 'great how are you?'. If you tell the truth sometimes then they act completely uninterested with a look on there face like 'boy I wish I had not asked that'. Well...don't ask questions if you don't want the answers to them. I just hate any insincere pre-scripted questions about daily minutia where a status quo PC answer is expected in return. If people are gonna talk...then say stuff that matters or is interesting...don't just go through the motions. As you can tell this is a current issue that bothers me

This relates to one of my main pet peeves and sadly one I need to deal with daily, since I deal with corporate clients every say. Every conversation begins with "how are you?", which to me is a redundant question because, quite frankly, the person asking it doesn't care. It's this forced politeness they seems transparently fake but is also expected. Just once I would love to say "how am I? Terrible! I ate bad Chinese food and was up all night with the runs, my car wouldn't start this morning and I have a hemmeroid the size of a golf ball bothering me right now. How are you?" Hey, they asked. The other thing that I agree with is the asking a question and expecting a scripted, PC answer. This is most common of people I know who are doing something they know is wrong, but they want affirmation anyway. If you're honest, you become the enemy, and you're a bad friend if you tell them what they want to hear. It's a catch-22. |

Bad grammar, especially misuse of apostrophes People you use the word "gay" as an insult People who say "two thousand (and) ten" instead of "twenty ten" |

I say "two thousand ten". (Actually, I go back and forth) I think it's a hold-over from the 80s. Just the fact that all four digits were going to change in the near future was a big milestone. We couldn't wait to live... <singing>In The Year Two Thoooooousand!</singing> Saying "twenty ten" makes it seem just as mundane as the previous century, but saying TWO THOUSAND ten retains the cartoonish charm of "the future", even though it's actually now the present. Some of my pet peeves... 1. People who say, "Wow, all six Star Wars movies totally match up!" 2. Any Wii waggle functionality that could have simply been a button press. 3. People who set their widescreen TVs to stretch out a standard def picture and then can't see how ugly that is. |
