I just sustained a grade 2 Deltoid rupture and can't really move my right arm right now without searing pain. Needless to say I am sidelined from gaming for the time being. :-/

Just wondered if anybody else has ever injured themselves in such a way that prevented them from enjoying their gaming hobby.

I did sprain my left wrist, pretty badly wrestling a few years back. Couldn't really do anything fun for about 2 months. Was really hard to drive and do normal things :/

Yeah bro it really sucks. I guess on the bright side I'm getting better at typing with just my left hand. I can't do much else right now though but Ice my right shoulder. Just got my new Xbox 360 Slim yesterday to make matters worse. Got the RROD 1 month ago....get the new one...and still can't play. :-/

I hear ya. At the time I was working a full time job and was pretty much screwed for that period of time. I really had to broaden my horizons in order to entertain and find a usefulness in my life during that time. I found reading and learning were some of my only options. I was right handed so I lucked out on doing some things still but just going online and seeking out knowledge kept me from losing my mind :)

hmm there was a time when i couldnt see well enough to play games or do anything else for that matter, cause i was given some kind of eye drops that made everything very fuzzy.

i have broken my collarbone twice and dislocated it once and i broke my wrist once but those didnt really stop me from playing games that much XD

That sucks, man. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery and a return to the gaming you love.

I once was unable to play video games for a month due to an injury to my left hand. I was 18 at the time and I was mugged one night by three guys, one of them brandishing a razor sharp hunting knife. They came at me and I put my hand up in defense, suffering a gaping wound as a result. Thankfully, no permanent damage resulted and all they got from me was my wallet with $5 and a shitty Discman that didn't work very well. But my left hand was bandaged for over a month and I couldn't write, play games or drive.

My dad accidentally closed the car boot on my 3 middle fingers of my right hands after football training. I ended up having my right hand bandaged for some time but helped me enjoy the finer things in life...reading, exercise and helping others. :)

@browland1 - Wow bro scary story there. Needless to say but thank god you were not hurt any worse than the hand injury. That's awesome that you didn't suffer any permanent damage.

Oh and thanks for the recovery wish....I guess I will just keep Ice on it and take anti-inflammatory pills and see how things are in a couple weeks. Guess I can catch up on some movies while I'm waiting...lol.

Strip the Flesh, salt the wound!

First of all, have a speedy recovery and get well soon.

I only had two injuries that stopped me from gaming. The first one was in 2000...I think. I was 6-7 years old. I accidentally slammed the door on my ring finger of my left hand. I cried like hell that day and It was actually very serious. Blood was splattered over the wall and my finger was deformed forever...I'm not kidding.
The other one was 3-4 years ago, I was playing football-soccer with my friends and I fell on my left arm and broke it. It was in a cast for 2 months.

Cut my left thumb to the bone, could not use it for a few weeks. Got more into PC gaming since I did not need my thumb like on consoles controller!

I got in a fight at school when i was 12 and broke my knuckles, ended up with a cast round my arm all the way up to my elbow. Seemed bit excessive at the time, considering the bit inbetween my thumb and index finger was really thick.

Stopped me from holding controllers properly, just had to lay half of the controller on my lap and bash the buttons with my thumb haha. Made the genesis/megadrive my best friend that christmas.

I haven't sustained an injury that prevented me from gaming fortunately. One time, I messed my thumb up really bad (I think I sprained it) but that was it. I really couldn't game at all but I still did. :)

I've been mugged three times. Fortunately, I was able to run away every time. One time, some guy came from behind with a knife and screamed at me for my money. I out ran him and went into a random house which turned out to be my teacher's.

LoL yea, I live in Kearny,NJ. It's literally 2 minutes away from Newark,NJ which is one of the worst cities in the country (Well, it used to be). Kearny is a pretty chill place to live, just some bad things happen once in a while.

That Guy From Denmark

When i had some major problems with my ear a few years ago. It was a whole summer, of 3 months i did nothing, than avoid the pain. I went to the doctor EVERY day and they sucked out the bad and nasty stuff, like bacterias and all kind of stuff in my ear with a small dry cleaner thingy. I went home, with a huge cotton in my ear, and the pain in my ears, was killing me. I seriously lay down all the day, just to find a way to lay where it did'nt hurt.

It stopped, and came back a few times, but was'nt bad, and now i just have some irritating noises in my ears. I constantly hears "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep".

Thats scotland for you mate haha.

It turns out that the skull is this well formed protective casing for your brain, it also turns out that as hard as a fist is, it is no match for a skull. :-/

So it was more to do with me being young, stupid and not knowing how to fight really, i still won though and thats what counts... ;)
