Well that depends on how you treat it. 3 years is a relatively good length of time and im guessing you've bought a year long membership. There's no telling when they get it just do our best to keep it cool.

Topic moved to the Xbox 360 section - please try to post in the appropriate subsection in the future.

To answer your question, there is no specific shelf life for an Xbox 360 and it's partly based on luck and on how you care for your console. If you give it room to breathe, use a cooling fan with it's own power supply and turn it off when you're not playing it, the chances are better that the console will last. If you cram it in a tight place, let it get dusty or put it on a carpet, the odds are high that you'll get the RROD.

I've owned an Xbox 360 Elite since April 2009 and I've had absolutely no problems...knock on wood. I know some who have the same model and it died on them rather quickly, while some own launch models that still work fine.

Yeah as others have said...It is really luck of the draw. I just got the RROD 1 month ago and had mine for about 15 months. I have a friend who got the RROD 7 times. I just got the new 360 Slim so I hope it lasts or I may be done with Microsoft.

I've had my latest 360 for just over a year and I sometimes get freezing on particular games which may be sign that its coming to an end which may persuade me buy the slim. I still haven't got the rrod yet 'knocks on head'.

i've had mine for a good 2 years already. and no problems yet. could be that i keep real good care of it, but half of that is luck to. i only had 1 RROD but it went away. that only happened because i was playing on it for to long in the summer and it over heated.

I've had my 360 Elite for about 10 months now. In that time, I have done my best to keep it running. It had the RRoD once. But all I had to do to fix it was use it on another TV. Other then that, I'm happy to say that it has served me well. :)

I'm putting aside $300 just in case I get the RROD at sone point. I don't have reason to think I'll have it anytime soon, but you never know.

I have had my elite for about 1 year and a half with no issues at all. there really is no set time frame for length of life, many things factor in and it could just be completely random. from what it seems though any models released in the past 2 years or so seem to be a lot more sturdy then the earlier models

I got my premium console chritmas 2007 I think, I have had literally no problems with it so to me they are pretty reliable. But then I have obviously heard horror stories from other people so yer guess its all down to luck and treating it well.

As others have said it's all about how well you take care of it and some luck.
I got my console 2 years ago this month and haven't had a single problem with it. Manufactured date: September 11, 2008.

My stepbrother has a model from before they included an HDMI port and honestly doesn't take care of it whatsoever. He leaves it on almost 24/7 at times in a very small area with games stacked up over the vents. Luckily for him he also hasn't had a single problem with his. Although I tell him he's just asking for the RRoD.

i have had my 360 for about 3 years now since 2008 and it runs pretty good but makes alot of noise but still works so i would say to depend on how well you take care of it and if it will last as some xbox 360s can just die quick due to the fact the microsoft is cheap

Idk... I am sure it does depend on how you treat your 360 a bit... However I got my 360 the christmas of 2006. I don't treat my 360 with much care I mean I don't try to mess it up or anything I just tend to not take to much care of it... I haven't cleaned it or anything. I also carry it to my friends houses every time one of them has a game night. My xbox has been left on for hours and hours as well.

I went through 4 360s in just under 3 years. I've had my PS3 for just over a year now and I've had no problems what so ever.
