I have a condition that gives me bad hand-eye coordination.Unfortunately, that makes me bad at a lot of video games. My doctor told me to play at least an hour of video games everyday to improve my hand-eye coordination. Weird. Have any of you guys ever had to play video games to help you physically? |

There have been studies done that lend credibility to the claim that video games help reflexes and hand-eye coordination. You, my friend, have just been given the prescription for AWESOME! If anyone gives you flack about your gaming, you can simply tell them that it's doctor's orders

I'm pretty happy and releaved too, actually. I never knew I had a hand-eye coordination problem till my last doctors appointment. It's something wrong with my connective tissue, which gives me slow reactions (I might be saying it wrong, all the info went over my head, lol.). I can grow out of it, but it's gonna take some time. He said I should be playing Guitar Hero, and Super Mario Bros. |

They actually have used video game type set ups as physical therapy for a lot of really bad cases of various conditions. If you search around the web some you can find more info on it. Those games aren't your normal video games in most cases, however for just hand-eye coordination, play on! I think the guitar hero style games would give you the greatest benefit in that case, but any controller based games should work. You could probably benefit from the typing tutors as well, even if you know how to type, they will flash a letter or work and you have to type them in a certain amount of time usually, which could help the coordination as well. |

First off, that is just awesome! If you want to improve on your hand-eye coordination, I strongly recommend playing Multiplayer shooters intensively. Games such as Call of Duty and Halo Reach would be great but there are tons more out there. When I mean intensively, I mean focus. Do not playing casually or while laying down but actually get into the game. Don't play RPGs in this case because I really don't think that would help in your situation. |

Sports are also good for hand eye therapy and are great exercise as well. Baseball and handball ( not Olympic, one style only played in the NY area as far as I know), are two that are great for hand-eye coordination. |

I know video games are a good way to improve your reaction time and hand-eye co-ordination but I would think a doctor would suggest a more physical activity such as tennis as a better alternative. |

Congratulations on the best medical advice i've ever heard. Pity he didnt dive you a prescription to take into your local game store. Imagine that, a 360 game, a ps3 game and something from the retro section, each to be played for 6hrs minimum a week. Doctors orders. |

I have been playing sports a bit more. But around where I live, it's freaking too cold to even go outside. I went to play baseball yesterday, and I had to leave the game after playing only 20 minutes. It was that freezing. When I was in Kindergarten, till about 3rd grade, I was in Occupational Therapy (sorryfor bad spelling.) And Physical Therapy. I used to do a lot of physical things that tried to help my hand eye-coordination. It helped, but not a lot. I told this to my Doctor, and he said to play more video games, which will help my reflexes and reaction time. I'm not going to be using this as an excuse all the time. I still want to be active. But so far, the video games have helped a lot. |

Studies have showed that Doctors that play videos games are better at operating on people. The small tools they use they need good hand and eye coordination to operated on people and playing videos games give doctors better hand and eye condition. That's why he told you to play videos games because that's what doctors are doing today to improve their own coordination. |
