This game was announced yesterday at the VGAs and has a release date of 11/11/2011. Also it has been reported the game will use a new engine instead of just using the engine that was used for Oblivion/Fallout 3/Fallout: New Vegas. I'm glad they chose to use a new engine, those other games were fun but that engine was just terribly buggy.

Also the above picture of Skyrim looks small compared to Cyrodil and Morrowind the areas that were in Elder Scrolls III and IV, I hope that means it won't be as expanse as the others.

I really hope it is as big as the others. I like to really get lost in those games.

Sega Does What Nintendon't

I hope its more like Morrowind than Oblivion, Morrowind had much better spell creation. I am sure I will like it regardless.

Yeah I thought that was a bit weird as well. It's releasing on a Friday instead of a Tuesday? Either way I'm sure I'll have Uncharted 3 to hold me over until then :D

I just hope it does 2 things. Fixes the damn third person so that it looks like it did with Fallout 3, only making the leg animations go in 8 directions instead of four. And also, I want it to have more action based missions in the main plot. THe only way to get those before were to do the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood quests.

Im with you on that, morrowind was much more fun. There was a freedom there that they took away with oblivion, probably why i didnt like it as much.

The 2 main things that bothered me was only being allowed to train 5 times a day and the way they messed up the leveling system. It was really irritating trying to get stat multiplyers.

I can't wait for this game although here are things I would love if they added:

1. Make guild missions more interesting especially the mage's guild tasks where you just collect herbs.
2. Bring flying or gliding back :)
3. Add more races.
4. Get better voice acting because they got like 12 voice actors for like all of oblivion's characters.
Sometimes I just feel so gaberflasted.

I hope it's different but doesn't stray too far from Oblivion. I'd like it closer to Morrowind actually, maybe somewhere in between. Also about the map size, I kinda hope it's pretty big. I know in Oblivion 90% of the map was just empty space but it's cool to explore areas like that.

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

Man, I need to restart Oblivion; I LOVED what I played of it, but I lost everything ='( This will most likely be a day-one purchase for me!

I just picked up Oblivion today, only about an hour and a half into it and would have to say i love it, not as good as fallout 3 but it is good.

I'm so pumped for this. Oblivion is easily my second favorite game of all time. Really happy they decided to not just make Fallout games. Not a big fan of those. I'm going to go through all the Elder Scrolls to get ready for this!

I'll obviously pick this up, but I'm not expecting much of a RPG experience. Oblivion was about as diluted as you can get when it comes to the RPG part of Action-RPG. They cut out more and more skills every time they release a new Elder Scrolls game. Seems like this will continue with the confirmation that Mysticism is no longer in the game.

Linear quest lines with no diverging paths, no choices or consequences, horrific level scaling, terrible selection of weapons, spells, and armor, thin number of voice actors, little to no crafting...these were all major issues I had with Oblivion.

That being said, Bethesda make games that are fun to explore. The viking theme of Skyrim has me eager to tear into the new map; even if the RPG elements are going to likely be sorely lacking.
