This game was announced yesterday at the VGAs and has a release date of 11/11/2011. Also it has been reported the game will use a new engine instead of just using the engine that was used for Oblivion/Fallout 3/Fallout: New Vegas. I'm glad they chose to use a new engine, those other games were fun but that engine was just terribly buggy.

Also the above picture of Skyrim looks small compared to Cyrodil and Morrowind the areas that were in Elder Scrolls III and IV, I hope that means it won't be as expanse as the others.

8 days!!! Can't wait. I haven't gotten into the multiplayer for BF3 because of this game...
Really? You need to play some multiplayer before Skyrim comes out! There are some amazing moments, especially in MP. The campaign was OK, and Co-op is decent too. By the time you get to it, it might be really frustrating to play online because alot of people will have all their unlocks etc. I got BF3 to tide me over until Skyrim came out and for a change of pace while playing Skyrim lol.

I find it kind of odd though how the public can vote for the Spike VGAs when Skyrim hasn't came out yet but its an option...

True. I have been playing it a little bit and found it to be as good as BBC2. The bad thing is though I will loose connection to the servers...alot.

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

I'll by skulking around my Walmart at midnight. Hopefully they put it out, haha. I'm buying myself a copy at midnight, and I have the collector's edition coming in the mail tomorrow; I'll be putting up an unboxing video on YouTube, hopefully.

So.. the game came out on Friday what is everyone's thoughts on the game so far?

I've only did like 2 quests so far and fought 1 dragon and I know I've played the game for at least 5 hours so far. I keep getting sidetracked and running around to other places.

I'm loving it so far. I've put about 40 hours into it and I still feel like there's so much more to do. I'm doing some Dark Brotherhood missions at the moment, and collecting random bounties. I think I've only killed about 5 dragons so far, and I only have 5 shouts (only 3 of them unlocked).

Oh, and here's a link to my unboxing video for the collector's edition, if anyone's interested.

Just watched Pete's impressions video and I have to say it's exciting to see that he's happy with what has come with Skyrim since we've all been waiting so long for it. I'm only about 20 hours in myself but I've been limiting the amount I'm playing each day because like Pete said I explore every little detail wherever I go which makes the game a bit slower. But needless to say I can't get enough of Skyrim and it's creeping up my list of my top favorite games ever and the more I play the more I'm amazed :)

I'm. Addicted.

Having never played an Elder Scrolls game I didn't know what to expect. And when I heard about Skyrim, I wasn't all that excited for it since I never played any of the ES games. I didn't look at previews, I didn't look at trailers, I didn't look at anything about Skyrim. I don't know what made me want to buy it... probably because I heard people say that the ES games can last your hundreds of hours and I always wanted a game that I could come back to. I'm tired of games lasting 5 - 10 hours. I've played probably around... 56 hours so far and I've got 6 or so Shouts, 2 dragon priest masks, all dragon scale armor (my smithing is 100), and a few Daedric weapons and Daedric armor. One of my favorite weapons is Sanguine Rose. ANYWAY this game is amazing. I'm never running out of things to do. I will walk towards a quest and I see a location that isn't on my map yet, so I go over there instead and I end up on another quest but as I'm doing that quest I see something else to do, then a dragon comes down and I'm fighting the dragon, so I fast travel to my house and put the dragon bones and dragon scales in my chest, and then I somehow end up on a different quest lol.

The day before Skyrim came out, I finally started playing Oblivion on Steam as it had been sitting on my account for a while. I was quickly hooked on Oblivion and I now consider The Elder Scrolls one of my favorite series. I love the deep stories that you are thrown into. I have only played a bit of Skyrim as I am still working on Oblivion but I absolutely love it. These are some of the best games I have ever played in my life. You really need to immerse yourself in this world.

There are appearances of characters from the books in Oblivion as well as actual NPC's from Oblivion.

I recently changed the difficulty back to Adept. Master made it so I couldn't get into the nuances of the game because combat was so intense and death occurred often. I think if I had made a straight melee character and pushed through the main story line on Master, I could do it, but not with a Dark Elf THF/RNG with high smithing and enchanting lol. Anyways, I'm lvl 55 and smithing is my only lvl 100 skill. I haven't gotten far in the main story at all. There are SO many things that I haven't done ..... I can't recommend this game highly enough.

Not going to say the game is bad or anything, I loved Oblivion but I just couldn't get into it as much, keep in mind I've only played a few hours at my cousins house but I may end up buying it.

Try to give it a little more time. I missed a lot of things in Skyrim that were in Oblivion but Skyrim has all of the depth of Oblivion plus more polish to the gameplay. Once you get into the story it's well worth it. I can't even see myself playing any games except Skyrim, Oblivion and morrowind for at least a few months.

Definitely give it another chance. A game like this is hard to get into while playing someone else's character or if you feel rushed. You wouldn't just hop on someone's WoW account for the first time and expect all to be revealed right? The same could be said for the scope of this game as well.

I haven't really noticed too many things that were in Oblivion that aren't present in Skyrim. Some things are just more "under the hood" than previous. I was so pissed when I first started playing and I thought I couldn't pick up items to place them in my homes .... then I held A (on 360) and the only complaint I had, disappeared.
