Around where I live, there were two gaming stores: Gamestop, and GameZone. Gamestop is not that good of a gaming store. I don't think I need to go into why, because I'm sure we all know. To most of us, it's really the only gaming store around. But, I was fortunate. God gave my area a second gaming store. A store that was not bought out by Gamestop. This was called: GameZone. After frustration from GameStop, I decided to check out GameZone, just to see what it was like. I go into the store, and find the greatest gaming store ever. It was the first gaming store I've ever seen that not only sold PS3/360/Wii/Current Gen games, but also had games and accessories for Ataris, Sega Genesis, Snes Games, N64 Games, all the games ever. I was in heaven. I didn't even go back to GameStop for eight months. During that time, I did my game shopping and browsing at GameZone. It was awesome. The people are so nice and friendly. The games aren't covered in stickers everywhere. They also had a huge collection of gaming merch, much better then Gamestop's merch. Then one day, I went to GameZone to look at some games. When I step out of my Dad's car, and as I am going into the store, I noticed the door was locked. I looked in the window, and saw rubble everywhere. At first, I was puzzled. But a few moments later, I notice a poster on the window. The poster said: "Coming Soon: Bridal Shop." My puzzled look quickly turned to anger. My favorite gaming store. The gaming store that I thought was a paradise, was turned into a bridal shop. It's been 9 months since this has happened. I went back to Gamestop to do my game buying. It was never the same. The sweet gaming atmosphere of a local gaming store, gone. I went back to the atmosphere of a National Corp. Gaming Store Chain. It was never the same. To this day, I still feel the pain. Everytime I pass the store that was once GameZone, a taste of bitter sorrow enters my mouth. Right now, I am still on a quest to find the greatest gaming store ever. GameZone was the greatest I have ever been to. It seems my search continues. The end... |

I share your pain. My 2 local PnTs closed down about a year ago and there's 2 Gamestops left. I usually drive into the city to go to another PnT before I stop at a Gamestop to browse. |

I have a gamestop, game crazy, and now a play n trade all close by. As much as people hate gamestop, their prices and selection have been better than the other two in my comparison, unless your looking for retro stuff, then it's off to play n trade. I usually go to whichever one I have a coupon for or is having a sale, as I usually just check amazon for price drops. I've never had the experience of having a local gaming store around, so I'm not entirely sure what I'm missing. |
