Does anyone feel like the forum activity is down as a whole? I check rather frequently and rarely see new topics or posts. I'm not exactly looking for spammers or post counts topics or members but I feel like as a community we are dwindling down a little. Does anyone feel similar? If so, Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop the dwindling effect? |

I've actually noticed an increase in new members, however it seems as though this isn't directly relating to any good topics or posts sadly. Let's hope for the best. |

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

I've noticed the drop in activity lately, but I'm sure there is a number of different factors. I for one have been busy with work, since they increased my hours for the Holidays. Pete's supposed to be uploading a new episode of Games I Bought Recently, so hopefully that gets some regular users' attention! |

Well lets see Ive been joined for like 5 hours and I believe I see what you mean, I posted on a thread a while ago and no replay or even another thread opened in that section of the forum. But that may because Im Australian and time zones suck. |

It probably has a lot to do with the Holidays and other factors like NostalgiaKing says. The main longtime 'regulars' are on here all the time...... myself included. I think a lot of us are just browsing and reading instead of posting. I mostly only post when a new thread that interests me catches my eye or If I have something new of substance to say. There are a lot of threads where newer members ask questions that have been asked in the past in other threads and I think most people don't respond because the answer can be found by searching. Also sometimes someone will ask a question and 1 or 2 people will answer it properly so there is no need for anyone else to reply. It's all ebb and flow. |

I am one of those regulars who has been missing lately. I agree with stratamaster there is a lot of threads been asked before by new members and many of us me included can't be bothered to reply to a topic which has been discussed before. |

I'm not overly concerned about it. I remember when I joined the forum back in 2009, the activity was relatively slow, and then it spiked, and then it went down again. Anyone who has been on forums in the past knows that activity has peaks and valleys, so I'm not worried that the forum is a sinking ship. This being a gaming forum, I've seen the activity drop around the time big games are released and the expected lull during the holidays account for the recent inactivity. I also see that we have a lot of lurkers, judging by the fact that the number of "guest" users online often outnumbers the registered members, so a lot of people probably just read posts and move on. Such is the nature of things with forums. To be honest, I'd rather people only post when they have something to add to a conversation as opposed to belting out one-word replies in order to drag out a topic or up their own post count. If there is anything that can be done to liven up the forum, I think more promotion would help. I know Pete did a video on the forum way back when it was first started, and it is mentioned in the All Gen Gamers podcast (though most new members from that stick to the AGG section), but perhaps a new video to Pete's subscriber base pitching the forum would help bring in some new blood. Just a suggestion. |

Over the last couple of weeks i actually thought there was a little more activity, it was a ghost town for a little while. As mentioned by browland above, a lot of the newer members are mainly just sticking to the AGG forum. I've noticed a trend in people asking some pretty general gaming questions in in the specific channel owners sections too. Seems a bit odd, but i suppose they're hoping for a personal reply or something. As far as actual discussion on the boards, i personally feel there are a lot, if not too much single sentence or listed replies. Heres a short example... Q. Fav game and why? A. Game x Game y Game z They're all awesome! Now im not saying this is bad, its just that a lot of the time i wanna know WHY you like this game, hate this game, spent hours depriving yourself of sleep playing this game, why you almost killed your friend for beating you at this game. It would also open up a lot more internal discussion within the topic too. If i see a list of games i dont even really take it in, you know what i mean? Or i cant even really reply or discuss it other than say,"yeah, i like that too". Sorry, just my opinion...for what its worth. haha. |

It makes sense that forum activity can drop & rise during different seasons, I hadn't thought of that. Honestly though I do see a lot of new members posting quite frequently on topics but I feel like some older members may be leaving or not posting. Maybe it's just me not paying attention as much lol |

Some of the active members and even a few mods have become less active lately, but I know that it's a busy time for some people due to school, work and life in general. The forum really experienced a surge of activity in the spring, which tapered off again in the summer and picked up again recently, but it's the holidays and a slowdown is expected. |

There is a direct correlation to the new posts getting no traffic and the lack of understanding the search feature. |
