What scares you?

What kind of things scare you?
Movies, songs, games, any specific examples of what you would refer to when you need a good scare.

For me the movie The Hills Have Eyes really scared me. The opening scene with the country music and pictures really bothered me the most, deformations really creep me out.

When it comes to music, some Tool songs really bother me, but by far the scariest song I have ever heard is Hamburger Lady. Listen to that song in the dark, with the lyrics in front of you; try not to have a heart attack. Some Aphex Twin stuff and the song "Hurt" are pretty weird too.

I can't think of any games that bothered me TOO much besides maybe some moments in Eversion. But that's it.

What about you?

Resident evil 2 on the Playstation scared me a lot when I was much younger but now zombies are more of a comical enemy in games.

Mice or Rats scare the poop out of me. They are my worst fear. I just cannot stand them at all.

My big phobia is wasps and hornets. I am not allergic to their stings, but I am terrified of flying insects that sting, though strangely enough I am not afraid of bees. We tend to get a lot of yellowjackets in my area in the summer and I run from them whenever they get too close, often resulting in funny dances I break into while walking down the street if one gets in my face. Other phobias, such as spiders, snakes and rats/mice don't irk me at all.

Sure I have fears like somewhat the dark and scream videos (holy crap...), but my main fear has to be what we as humans don't know. Who knows what's out there?

There's no way to disprove anything in my eyes, so the concept that their almost certainly are devestatingly bad things we don't know about is horrifying to me. I've gone through breif stages of depression due to this fear to be honest.

LoL. Isn't that the Goober brand. It's peanut butter and jelly mixed and I also think it is gross. It has to be separate or else flavors and textures get ruined.

Lol, it horrifiies me, I mean don't even think of it as something complicated. Maybe every time you trip it's because one of your enemies wanted you to trip at that moment. In my eyes that's impossible to prove with science, yes, but in the scheme of things it really is impossible to disprove.

We trust logic, but since the creation of existance isn't exactly logical, who knows what else isn't?

Deep Indeed

I had a similar experience once, for about 3 months the I was really bothered by the thought of death. The thought of "Nothingness".
Just thinking about it gives me a headache

I also share your unreliable logic type belief. I don't think we know even 1% of what there is to know out there, yet a lot of people seem to think we know everything.

That actually leads me to another thing that scares me, space.
Oddly, I am terrified of the thought of falling into a gas giant. Or towards the sun, slowly becoming hotter and hotter until you eventually die.

I have similar thoughts/fears as the both of you.

For one, like you (MegaSchmoo) said, I often think about how it is possible that there is just nothingness after we die or that we don't remember anything, contrary to my own beliefs. Just thinking about it makes me think of how limited an amount of time we have to do things, so I try to stay away from the topic as much as possible. Even the simple thought of Casper the Ghost's story kind of urks me, Casper having forgotten all of his time alive. Maybe I'm looking too into it, but that thought of everything being pointless because it could all be forgotten really scares me.

Secondly, this isn't really a fear, but just a sort of thought I go through often. A lot of times when I find myself sitting in silence or when I am really calm, I will just start thinking too far into things, sort of like Matt said. For example, I keep trying to contemplate the fact of how nothing just became something out of nowhere and I just don't understand. I know our human brains aren't really meant to understand these kinds of things yet, but I just can't see how things came to be. I mean, I believe in God and everything, but even then I don't understand how God came to be. How nothingness suddenly turned into something, or how anything could even happen at all. I constantly find myself in this constant vortex of thoughts, asking myself how it all began, hoping that I could someday find a concrete answer, even though I know in my heart that I can't.

... Yeah.

So in short I overanalyze things a lot. I know that is natural in human beings, but I think I do it even more than average. Does anyone else overanalyze this much?

I have never been scared about death, never. But, having to die in a certain way scares me. As example, i'm scared by the idea of drowning or bleeding to death.

AND i'm scared by BIG Spiders (i don't care about the small ones).

Yeah, I know what you mean about those ways to die. While I never really think about it too much to the point that it scares me, it is hard to imagine yourself dying in anyway, really.
