I've been looking for this topic around the forum, but surprisingly I can't seem to find it anywhere. I think the best way to do is to put it into Award Categories. If you want to do one for each system that's fine. Here is my best of 2010 awards! Best Story: Mass Effect 2 - Xbox 360. I don't think many people will disagree with me on this one. Mass Effect 2 was an absolute masterpiece, and the best RPG I've seen in a long time. Best Multiplayer: Call of Duty: Black Ops. Once again we get a fantastic call of duty game, that has the same addictive taste to its multiplayer, that Modern Warfare 2 had last year. And once again it keeps millions of players coming back night after night. Most Addictive Game:: World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. I don't think WoW is game we've spend much time talking about on this forum, but for me there is no denying that it is the video game I've spend the most time with ever, simply because it is so darn addictive, and Cataclysm is no exception. Best Character: : John Marston - Red Dead Redemption. I liked John Marston from the very first mission in RDR, he is definitely one of the most memorable characters I have ever played in a video game. Best Action Game: Just Cause 2. When a game has such a pointless story, and the most horrible voice acting I've heard in a long time, then it is hard to make a top 2010 list. But with non stop amazing action, and a mind-blowing open world to play around with, then it would be sad not to mention Just Cause 2. BEST GAME OF 2010: Red Dead Redemption: Take everything you love about Grand Theft Auto, and then mix that with a great story, set in the fantastic wild west, and them you have Red Dead Redemption. I don't think I've ever played a game that was able to give me goosebumps, just by having me travel between 2 missions, except for RDR. Everyone who have played this game will remember the part where you have to ride from America to the wild west, that part of the game featured some of the most amazing visuals I have ever seen in a video game, and it has a soundtrack that made me completely forget that I was playing a video game. Red Dead Redemption is the best game I played in 2010, and it is a game that I won't forget in a long time. Now let me see your list! |

I can't really make a list as I didn't play a whole lot of games that came out last year, but my fave was definitely Bayonetta |

My personal favorite storyline of this year was either "Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom", or "Enslaved: Odyssey to the West". Both contain two characters that start off complete opposites, and through the course of the game you get to see them bond and form a beautiful friendship. As for shooter, I would probably have to go with Fallout: New Vegas, because i thought CoD: BO and Reach both fell short of huge expectations. Multiplayer would be AC: Brotherhood, it was a really original idea that worked very well. Many other great games this year, but it would be too hard to categorize them all. |

My GotY is either Mass Effect 2 (for obvious reasons) or Nier Nier is the only game of recent times that's stuck with me. Alot of people praise the storyline without even touching NG+ (which changes EVERYTHING) - There's alot of backstory created through Grimoire Nier, and the characters are great, really interesting. Even the characters that should annoy me to all hell (Emil) came across as being awesome. It's a shame Cavia was absorbed shortly after the release of Nier, was hoping we'd see a continuation on the theme. But, never mind. |

There are a lot of games from 2010 that I haven't finished and there actually were quite a few games from 2009 that I finished in 2010 :p But anyway, these were my faves from 2010: - Super Mario Galaxy 2. Awesome game, love the new power-ups (especially the Cloud one and the drill). Although I'm probably in the minority in saying that I still think the first SMG is the best. One reason is the because the last boss battle from SMG2 was a very big letdown for me. They really took the lazy road with that one. It could have been so much more! - Dragon Quest IX Great little RPG. Not the best out there for the DS, but definitely one of the best from 2010. Enjoyed it a lot. - Donkey Kong Country Returns I'm still quite impressed by this game. How everything plays and how beautiful the graphics are, plus a great soundtrack (although it still doesn't get to the same level as the music from the original SNES games). It gets a bit too challenging for my liking though later on in the game. - Heavy Rain. This game really was quite an experience for me. I totally got into the atmosphere of this game, because of the stellar graphics and moody music, plus the action scenes really got my blood pumpin'. Truly one of a kind! - God of War III This was the first GoW game that I've ever played and I loved it. The opening climb while figthing Poseidon was the highlight of the game and it sadly never really tops that experience in the rest of the game. But I enjoyed it a lot. - Final Fantasy CC: The Crystal Bearers. Such a fun game, definitely not up to par too the original FF games (FF I to FF XII), but I was still quite impressed by this game. Too bad it wasn't too popular like FFXIII (I actually prefer this to FFXIII). BTW this game was released in 2010 in Europe ![]() - Dead Rising 2 Guess you could say it's: same old, same old...when comparing to the first Dead Rising. But I still enjoyed the heck out of it. Love the new combo weapon system. Guess that's it. Still have to play games like: Ys Seven, Professor Layton and the Lost Future, Alan Wake, Castlevania Lord of Shadow, Sonic Colours more to able to say if those were the best of 2010. But I think most of these would also make my list! Edited by BKMcGlynn, Mar 8 2011, 05:47 AM.
