Anyone see Tron in theaters recently? I saw it about a week ago with my girlfriend and thought it was interested. I've never seen the first one so here's my thoughts on the current release:

For the Grid to be the Utopia that Flynn's dad was searching for, it seemed amazingly dark and unwelcoming, even in the beginning. There was always thunderclouds in the sky and the only light that showed in the Grid was from the beam of light from the portal opening. I can understand the depiction of light being used to personify the dark theme of the movie with C.L.U. & his ambition to conquer the world but it felt like the only light at the end of the tunnel was to leave the "Utopia" and head for the actual light, which was the portal. The Grid was C.L.U.'s domain and there was no escaping it.

I still didn't understand the movie fully but please let me know your thoughts on how you thought the lighting played a part in the movie. Thanks for reading!

I loved this movie, and I do agree how the darkness was un-utopia like, but I believe that was done on purpose.

In the first movie, everything was blue and white, strange, yet more inviting, then when CLU came around everything got messed up...
