Thanks Johnny and Robman for the awesome tribute to the Dreamcast!

I was like HCG, even though I was a huge Sega fan, I just wasn't feeling the Dreamcast at first. Sega Rally 2 and Virtua Fighter 3, while better than what was out there, still weren't perfect. The first game to stand out was Power Stone. Just like you guys, I played this game in the arcade first, then I understood that the DC had some muscle under the hood.

Once the great wave of NAOMI powered games hit the shelves, Sega was now able to offer the user TRUE arcade games. Many big arcade hits at that time like Capcom vs SNK, Virtua Tennis, and Yu Suzuki's F355, were powered by the arcade version of the Dreamcast. It was too good to be true. lol

The thing about this system for me was the deluge of awesome and innovative games for it. It was the first time in my gaming life when I felt there were too many good games!

The DC stands up even today. I have mine hooked up via VGA box and it still looks amazing!

The DC is for sure one of my favorite systems of all time. I'll never forget all the time I spent with it in the winter months playing all the games I have. I never really liked basketball games that much but my friend and I were extremely addicted to NBA 2K1.

I was actually really excited for the DC before it was released but I had no money and it took me almost a year after release before I could get the money to pick one up. When I did get it though, I was so pleased with everything it had to offer. I spent the next 2 years tracking down all the games that I wanted for it and built up a nice collection.

I think the DC is one of the best game consoles to come out. There were numerous problems that lead to the end but I'm so happy to have been along for the ride and it was SEGA's gift to the fans (except for cancelling Shenmue II in North America which was a kick in the face). I know that it will live on and that the fans will always remember the good times it brought.

One of their best videos, you can tell how nostalgic they were feeling talking about Power Stone marathons. Great system, amazing library, too many good memories.

The Dreamcast was Sega's love letter to their fans. A last hurrah before they went straight software. Amazingly they almost DIDN'T give up on the console war. Peter Moore (pre EA Sports and Pre XBOX) was at SEGA, and he made the call that ended the hardware race for Sonic's creators. It was a sad day for gamers around the world, and a tough day for Moore himself.

There's an awesome interview with him about it here:
