Well, to make it fair, I decided to make this poll a MultiVote (2 votes maximum per member) because I just couldn't decide between the Sega CDX and the JVC X'eye! I've just always loved the idea of the convenience of a Sega Genesis and a Sega CD all in one console! So that way, if you wanna use the 32X with it (if the 32X will work with the X'eye or CDX), that'll be one less AC Adapter to fiddle with!

Definitely got to go with the model 2. While the model 1 is quite stylish in its own right, and the model 3 is adorably small (and convenient for travel), the model 2 is the most aesthetically pleasing when combined with other console add-ons, particularly the 32X, and I prefer the top-loader Sega CD, for which the Model 2 optimally made. I also had to give an appreciative nod to the X'Eye. Definitely a plus if you value your space on the power strip. Not as pretty with the 32X mounted on it, but I must say, unless you really have a thing for hummingbird shooters, you don't actually need the 32X. Biggest thumbs-down has to be the Nomad. Blurry screen. Horrible battery life. Great if you like RPGs or anything else that doesn't have a lot of rapid movement on the screen. |

model 1. It says high definition graphics on it and it has a volume slider/headphone jack. First console i ever bought that none of my friends had. Also the first one i bought with my own money. |

I'm going to have to go with the Model 2. When connected with the model 2 Sega CD, the combination is sexy, to say the least.

The CDX and the Model 1 for sure. The CDX is still one i have to purchase, and though it just looks like an old cd player i still think its an amazing piece of kit. Though i like the look of the Model 2, especially with the megad CD 2 attached, i had to pick the model 1. It looks bigger, meaner and has the headphones jack with volume slider so your parents would only hear the mashing of those big round buttons at 1am on a school night. Another 2 reasons being it sounds better and the master system converter for the megadrive 2 is missing the MS card game slot. |

I have to go with the original HD Graphics model 1 Genesis / Mega Drive I have always liked the look of the console plus it has front headphone jacks and better sound than the model 2. The CDX would of been my pick but compatibility issues kills it for me. |

Of the three main models I have a tough time choosing just one. I like the first model with the headphone jack and the way the Sega CD attaches to the bottom with a disk tray. I like the second model because that was the first Genesis I ever owned and it was slimmer/slicker then the original. Finally I like the 3rd just for being so small and compact, but I didn't like the weird colour scheme that went with the box. I wish I could own all three now that I think about it. |

The model 1, non-tmss, HDG is my favorite version of the system. For me, it's been the most reliable hardware wise. I have about five model 2 systems and all but one of them have touchy AC Adapter inputs. The buttons feel cheap, and the sound quality is worse (even though it outputs stereo as a default with AV cables). The Model 3 is. . . well, my least favorite, but it almost should be by default. It was meant to be a budget system. |

I'd say 2, because it is able to use most of the system accessories. |

The Model 1 is the best, it looks so cool. I never liked the design of the model 2, it looks so empty. The model 3 on the other hand is pretty cool because it is so tiny. |

The Multi Mega is by far the coolest but it was incredibly expensive at the time. I spent most of my time on the Model 2 (Loved that thing) but also quite a bit on the Model 1 and the Model 1 is the classic. If i could only have one now it would be a mint Model 1. |

I vote model 2 hacked to output stereo sound. The model 3 rocks too, but I don't have a power adapter for mine right now. It takes a different one for some reason. |

So much this! The quality of the video and audio on the model 2 is noticeably worse compared to the model 1 and that just kills it for me. Edited by pestro, Jul 28 2014, 07:07 PM.

That's true. I also like the Nomad. Controls very well and there is always the option to connect it to a tv. Two players isn't too shabby either. Fits/plays imports fine. Much better than the Genesis 3 imo |

That's cool! I've never had a chance to try out the Nomad nor the Mega Jet. A quick look on ebay tells me that you can pick up a Nomad for ~$60 which is fairly cheap. I might have to do that someday as I've heard a lot of good things about it. Btw, found this video on Youtube that compares the sound between the different models of the Genesis/Mega Drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn2-K8TkXCs That video expresses better than words my feelings on the Model 2

Wow, I never knew there was that much of a difference :\ I'll admit I've always been biased about model 2's though. I also have to mention the Pioneer Laseractive What more could you ask for? Seriously though, great system for laserdiscs, but beware of the PACs because the capacitors leak and will need to be replaced in the future if not now.
