This is a real blow. Nintendo have said they are not going to be releasing The Last Story overseas because of all the localization they'll have to do and that it's not viable. Really disappointed by this, I was really looking forward to it.

Welcome To Warp Zone!

I just read this a few minutes ago and came here to post this. I don't care if it's not going to Europe because of their translation issues, that should affect us here in the States.

If Nintendo doesn't want to bring over more Wii games, then what's the point of still selling systems? They shouldn't be abandoning ship just because the 3DS is around the corner.

Well that is really disappointing news. That really takes away some hope for Xenoblade as well then. Nintendo can be a strange company in this regard as they are constantly talking about how they appease their fans yet don't want to put in effort for a "risky" game. Yes they brought over Sin and Punishment 2, but that's not quite so hard to translate over.

Hopefully they will change their opinion on this. Perhaps we shouldn't hold our breath, but maybe another publisher could work on the translation under Nintendo's supervision. We can hope at least.

This is some serious bullshit right here. Will send complaints to Nintendo for sure. They can localize anything they want, they're a huge company with massive profits from shit like Wii Fit. If they can't localize Last Story or Xeno Blade what is the point of funding MistWalker and buying Monolith in the first place? They need Square-Enix quality RPGs on their consoles yet they don't bother releasing them outside of Japan... what a joke. This is seriously pissing me off.

This is bs. I just stopped thinking about this game assuming it would be released for sure, but seriously?

I had my doubts about xenoblade, but not the last story.

EDIT: Oh...I just forgot this is Nintendo and E3 is coming soon. I am not worried anymore. We will see it there.

I saw gameplay for this on Justin.tv (thank you muragaru), and absolutely wanted it when I saw it! But like what TriforceRich just said, E3 is around the corner, so there's always chance of Nintendo surprising us again, and announcing the release for the game. They've done things like this before, and they'll do it again, count on it.

Just because you register a domain it isn't signed sealed and deliver. Nintendo might be just cyber squatting with their intellectual property. They may decide to release the Last Story and if they do they won't be paying a handsome fee to get the website rites. If they don't release it; a small write off on the taxes.

Otherwise I believe Nintendo MUST release this game. The big N badly needs new IPS as the 3DS is just looking like a re-release/remaster pump out machine.

I really hope The Last Story and Xenoblade come over here, it would give me a reason to turn on my Wii again. I don't see any reason not too, the Wii needs these RPGs and from what I have seen of them (especially Last Story), they look excellent.

im not to concerned even though i was anticipating these games like no ones buisness they sound amazing! i dont think thats much of an excuse look at final fantasy 13 they even went through that massive game and re did the lip syncing just for english dialog i know thats not nintendo but it can be done. E3 is around the corner so well see but if worse comes to worse (europe probaly has better chance than north america at this point with the realse of disaster day of crisis) sometime down the road ill import a japanese wii and buy the games maybe learn some basic japanese i dunno. but i find comfort in the fact that ill still get to play it someday just maybe not understand it.

They aren't coming. TBH I was hoping they would but Nintendo is doing some serious fan hate atm. I honestly don't know if Nintendo is in touch with the people who actually care about the company.

I hate to turn this into a Wii U vs PS4/Xbox 720 thread... but if Sony or MS drop their next gen console around the time of the Wii U then Nintendo will get exactly what they deserve. A too little too late pie.

The Last Story is coming to PAL, just import it. It's less convenient, but it's still a viable option.

I've played a couple hours of the Japanese version, and I quite like it.

In other words hack our consoles? Because I certainly am not going to give Nintendo extra money and buy a PAL Wii.

How hard and dangerous is it to hack a wii? I really want to play these games, but I would rather not break my Wii. So basically what are the chances my Wii will be bricked?

Soft-modding your Wii, or "hacking," as you put it, involves copying files to an SD card and installing them. That's it. There are tons of ways to accomplish it, which is the only thing that makes it difficult (piecing together the various methods). Other than that though, it's a breeze. I don't know the risk of bricking your Wii. I've never had a problem with it and I don't know anyone who has.
