Well for almost 5 months now I've been working part-time at a theatre in London West-end. Usually ushering people and bar work and during my time I've dealt with some unusual people that just makes me wonder. Some moments are just funny and some can be frustrating here are few of my personal favourites:

Im standing in front of the door to make sure nobody enters the auditorium.
Man: Excuse me, have you seen my wife Emma anywhere?

Me: (Thinking hes just making a joke) No what does she look like?

Man: (Actually being serious) She has short brown hair, medium height...

Me: No sorry pal I'll keep an eye out.(Everyone behind him starts giggling)

What am I? Lost and found for blokes wives?

Frustrating moment:
Im showing people to their seats.
Foreign man shows me ticket saying he's standing.

Me: Ok, your standing at the back.

Man: And where is my seat?

Me: No your standing.

This went back and forth until I lost the will to live and sent him across the other side of the theatre.
I've also been pestered by a heavily pregnant lady during the show demanding a seat when she bought a standing ticket. Its not easy trying to make a living.

Please tell us your fun moments at work dealing with the slow and thickheaded.

When I used to work at party city, a retail chain here in the US that sells stuff for all holidays as well as stuff for all types of parties and gatherings throughout the year, I often got many many people that seem completely unable to read. I often thought it was a test like candid camera or something, because when those sales come around, they just toss everything in the wagon and ask one at a time if its on sale and why they can't have it on sale. No more retail for me thankfully, as I work in the kitchen of a nursing home now and really only have to interact with less than a dozen people, and out of those only about 5 or so regularly. Still there's a few practices that make me ask why, but I don't question it any more.

Well, I haven't had any jobs yet. However, I have done some charity work, raising money for organizations, such as an ALS organization. Every year, my brother and I raise money for a different organization (last year we did ALS.)

We worked hard, yet only raised about $40 (the year before, we raised about $500) and the work was hard. The people were ignoring us (it was at a fair.)I went around advertising, and asking people. They just ignored me. We were out in the heat for hours. It was not our best day. Oh well, better luck this year :)

As bad as your job may be, nothing can compare to the hell that I endured for three years - telemarketing. When I was a teenager, I got a job doing telemarketing for arts organizations like the art gallery, the symphony and the ballet. My job was to call people and try to sell memberships, subscriptions or appeal for donations. To my credit, I was able to talk well to people and I sold relatively well, but the people you get on the phone are the rudest, nastiest and dumbest forms of life imaginable. The nicer ones were idiots who would let you talk endlessly, knowing that they weren't buying anything, or those people who say things like "get a job, asshole" and other expletives.

This is the kind of work that brings you nothing. It's high stress, low pay and almost completely thankless. Additionally, the people who work in telemarketing jobs can sometimes be sketchy, since the job requires no education and little skill, I met many strange and downright bizarre people doing these jobs. Thankfully, I got out of this business and I would sooner live in a tent under the freeway than go back to it.

To be fair I'm usually polite until they won't stop talking pish, then it's usually a hang up.

If I say I'm not interested it mean I'm not interested. :)

Sega Does What Nintendon't

When I was in school still I had a job working for Tweetsie Railroad a Wild West themed park, with a fully restored 1917 train that takes passengers on a ride with cowboy and Indian reenactments or sometimes train hijacks.

The first season I worked there I worked in the ticket booth that sits right in front of the train. Tweetsie has 2 trains and while one is out making its rounds the other is sitting behind the ticket booth getting ready to go out. The train is in plain sight while your in the ticket booth and its sitting there letting off smoke, blowing its whistle. If anyone has ever saw a old train like this you know how loud they are and how strong the coal smoke smells.

Keeping all this in mind one day while I was working a lady was in line and when she got to the counter asked me if these were real trains. everyone in the line started busting out laughing, and I was looking at her for a few seconds before I totally lost it as well. I have no idea what she thought the trains were but its by far one of the dumbest things anyone has ever said to me while I was working.

Here is a picture of engine No. 190 just to give you more of a idea.......

@Bolton121 I work at Dominion theatre mate. The one and only show they do there for the past 9 years is 'We will rock you' the musical for Queen. Its great but seeing the show 3 times a week can be pain. Money isn't bad too. You seen it?

Yes the cast today is pretty damn good. Ben Elton and Brian May visit occasionally but I haven't seen them yet. My uncle is Brian May's personal chauffeur/bodyguard and thats how I managed to get the job through that.

Yes its not what you know but who you know these days to get a job :)

I've worked too many retail jobs and I've had my fair share of bizarre people.

On my first day at my first job ever I was part of a maintenance crew at a grocery store. I was about 3 hours into the shift and was getting ready to clean the bathrooms. As I finished the mens room I noticed a women coming out of the restrooms and she says to me "I've had an accident in the 2nd stall, I'm sorry" and left. I walk in and head to the 2nd stall, open the door and there was shit EVERYWHERE!!! It was in the grout and every nook and cranny possible. Nastiest thing I have ever seen.

Next was at Sam's Club which is owned by the same guy as Walmart and basically the return policy is they take back pretty much everything. Some women comes to the return desk and has 3 rolls of toilet paper out of like 30. She tells my co-worker that she wasn't pleased with her purchase because the toilet paper wasn't soft enough and would like to be reimbursed.

And finally, I was working at another grocery store as a cashier when some lady tried short changing me and I caught her in the middle of it. I closed the till and called for my supervisor. The lady took her items and took off down the store towards the entrance/exit. I told my supervisor that she tried shortchanging me *in a loud voice* everyone saw what was going on. As I was saying this some guy was just entering the store on his cell phone and figured out that this lady was stealing since everyone was watching. All of a sudden this dude lowers his shoulder and completely knocks this chick on her back (still on his phone) and he just continues to shop like nothing happened. MOST BADASS THING EVER!!!

Sorry for the long post but I know some of you can relate to some crazy experiences like this.

Wow thats pretty much the good, the bad and the (extremely) ugly right there. Where I work our cleaners get paid peanuts so its up to us to clean up the auditorium to make it look acceptable but I've never witnessed anything close to what you have yet...

I don't currently work right now and I am a full time student, but I have worked for two different companies.

I worked at St. Jude Hospital as a volunteer and can't really remember any horrible situations. I mean some people would come asking about when they could see someone constantly, but all that is understandable. I didn't like being asked about directions though because my sense of direction isn't that great and I wouldn't really know how to respond when someone would ask where X area is in a huge hospital with multiple buildings and parking lots.

My next job was a paying job working as a teller at a private business bank. Everyone was great at work, except one person who would scream at me. She seemed to enjoy it. I remember one time she was like NOOOOO YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG! I was like ummmm what did I do wrong? She looked at my filing and then she just replied never mind it is ok. Stuff like that just pissed me off, but overall it was a great experience and I am grateful for them letting an 18 year old at the time with almost no work experience work in a bank.

There was also one Mexican woman that would walk into the bank once a week that was a hassle. She had the least money in her account out of anyone, but everytime she came in it would lead to yelling from her and a thirty minute hassle. What is this charge? Why? Why? No? Why? Liar! There was also another time when someone walked in and gave me complete shit because I asked him for his ID(which was company policy and was always told to do). The guy ended up being one of the initial shareholders and investors in the bank and went on a rant of how all employees should know who is who and know when not to ask for an ID. I had been working there for 3 weeks >.<, but it taught me a lesson to make sure I learned everyone's names and who everyone was because God forbid I insult another millionaire.

haha, thats amazing. You should have made him a little dunce hat out of an ice cream cone.

Reminds me of a story. It was my 17th birthday, me and my ex girlfriend are in argos, shes buying me a barbell/dumbell set. The scrawniest of the argos goblins comes over wth the box of weights, buckets of sweat pouring off of him. We're already his least favourite customers of the day.

My ex comes out with "is that heavy?", totally dead pan, no joke intended.

If looks could kill...pity they cant.

When I was doing work experience (In Gamestation, UK Game shop) Someone asked me 2 questions

1. Is there a way to unban his console banned xbox - I said Buy a new one and don't flash it Which he then went crazy for basically suggesting to him to buy games

2. He then asked if the PSP Go could be "Chipped for free games" - I just said I didn't know

He came in about 3 hours later and tried to trade in a xbox in the worst condition I ever saw...
