I was playing mega man 2 today and got to thinking why doesn't mega man have any of the weapons from the first game like fire and ice cannons? All the other games are the same. Why is that?

I think most of the weapons in the megaman games are based on the bosses. You fight a boss and you get his weapon, or a variant of it. It's been a while since I played any of the original megaman games, but I'm pretty sure that's where the weapons come from. That's what makes megaman so great. Unique bosses with their unique stages, and their unique weapons, that you get to use when you beat them. That's why the same formula works over and over. Every game is the same but every game is so different.

He isn't made for fighting and doesn't like to fight. He only uses those weapons because they will help him achieve peace. Once he's done that, he strips himself of his weapons. Mega Man is righteous. He isn't like the robot masters who want to destroy the world.

Well, i think this is kind of a strange question.

I mean, in that case, you could also ask:
Why doesn't Link have all the hearts he collected in the previous games?

Probably because it would make the screen red, there would be so many hearts.

The megaman series is a straight timeline. The zelda timeline is all over that place so I understand why you dont continue with everything from the previous games.

My question applies to metroid also. Samus gets the ball morph in the first game but in super metroid Samus goes back to the same planet and has to get the it again.

Windwaker link is only appears in WW and Phantom Hourglass

As for the question, it's just sort of one of those don't ask type things. It's not logical, but if it were I imagine it would be very broken.

One way to imagine it is that with every new game the enemies and you are tougher, so all of your old hearts would equal out to 3 new hearts and all of the hearts you get from now on are of that type of heart.
