So guys, so many games come out every year that look so awesome to me, but that I have to push off of my radar because I've never been able to get over my little phobia of horror video games. I have no issues watching the scariest films, I thought Paranormal Activity 1 and 2 and thought they were far from the horrifying films that hype made them out to be, but when I get put into a game I tend to stop playing due to extreme nervousness. Games like Dead Space intrigue me so much, but are out of my reach because of this issue. Anywho. I wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions for getting out of the slump. I was thinking of purchasing Bioshock as a first, sense I've heard it was creepy, but not all together scary, and thought that it was a good game to start the gradual trek into the horror genre. Are there any other games that you guys would suggest, getting gradually creepier and creepier, so that I can unlockc this section of the market for myself? Thanks. |

Parasite Eve 1 and 2 really got me into the genre. Resident Evil 4 isn't necessarily scary, but does make you tense up when you hear a chainsaw being revved... Oh and you should check out Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. The dated graphics should ease the terror

I think you should play through the Resident Evil series and experience the way it changed over from survivor horror with puzzle elements, to more of an action/adventure horror type game. The breathing (and know that means one was around) of the regenerators from RE4 was probably the most uneasy I've felt playing a game. I didn't like knowing which way those things were coming from. |

As king James said, resident evil is prob the best route to take. Id go with RE1 on ps1 first, or if thats a bit too blocky or unresponsive for you then try the remake on the gamecube. I got a few jumps from that. |
