Pawn shops, thrift stores etc.

We got 2 retro gaming stores in my town, and both are so extremely overpriced ($200+ for FF7) that I'm puzzled at how they are managing to stay in business.

i have the same problem, the north east of scotland isnt exactly a haven for retro gamers. If you do find a shop with older games, they usually just price check with the buy it now prices on ebay. Kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me.

As mentioned above, charity stores can be great for a cheap pick up, but your never guarenteed to find anything good. I usually just find old sports games.

Ebay has been my friend for a while. Unfortunatly you end up paying more in p&p than you do on the games. Countless times i've won a game for 99p just to get £2-3 p&p.

Some folks dont know how good they've got it.

I wish Vintage Stock would expand its business other than the midwest..x_x anywho. There's alot of good deals on http://racketboy.com's buy/sell/trade section too. I spent i think 10 bucks and got 5 games, 3 of which were complete.

I actually prefer pawn shops/yard sales etc. over retro stores.

The feeling of finding a shrink-wrapped copy of Star Ocean for $5 from some guy in a classified add is priceless

There's a cool retro store in Ann Arbor which is pretty close to me and their prices are ok. The closest pawn shop to me doesn't even price their games though, you ask for a price and then wait around while they look it up on EBay and quote you the highest price they see! It's no wonder they always have shelves full of games.
