Yes, there's a full 3d polygon FFIV remake for the Nintendo DS, but if you mean part VI, the "no!".There is a GBA port though!

Oops..this has already been answered! :$

Yes, Final Fantasy IV has a DS port. They added voice acting and changed the graphics from sprites to polygons, as well as some other changes I'm not aware of (I haven't actually played IV at all, but my friend has the DS version).

Edit: Whoops, I didn't see the "Go to next page" at the bottom. Hehe...

FF7 I used to fall asleap playing this with the controll in my hands, I love the fusion of traditional fantasy with sci/fi elements for me they achieved the perfect balance.

8 and 9 are also great games however and in most cases everyone I know who likes 1 of these 3 games enjoys the others.

7 hands down. I still remember picking that game up maybe a week or so after it was released, sitting down, playing it for the first time and being totally blown away by what I was seeing. I really wonder what kind of experience kids who were born when the game came out and are now 13 or 14 (the same age I was when I first played the game) have when they played it for the first time given all the hype and devotion that still surrounds it after all these years.

I'd love to hear their thoughts on the game as well but I'm afraid 99% of kids these days would take one look at the graphics and decide against continuing.

These are by far the best FF games out there.
Cant write off the 2D final Fantasy games!

VI is pretty damn good and my mate says IV is amazing too, though i am still to get round to playing that.
Yeah, I like FFVI....it's defintely great, but IMO it doesn't give me the same amazing experience as the PS1 games. (the NES games too) And I actually love 16-bit RPG's in general!

Same goes for the PS2 outings, even though they had better graphics and voice acting, I can't say, looking back, that they've left me with the same tingly feeling as the PS1 games. I enjoyed FFX, despised FFX-2 and FFXII is love/hate thing for me (the amazing soundtrack is a plus).

I can play the PS1 games on and on...and they never get old for me. I played them several times on the PS1, but years later also on the PSP/PS3 (the PSN downloads) and they were just as immersive and addicting as (more then) 10 years back.
I know exactly what you're talking about.

The ps2 games kinda killed the series for me. I would actually prefer long pages of text rather than annoying voice overs.

I get what you mean though. In some of the dramatic scenes, you really need a bit of imagination when looking at 8 or 16bit sprites jumping around.

I'm gonna have to choose FFVII over FFIX, but just barely. Both games are pretty much equal to me.

For years I've been unsure which of the two games I like better. So I tried playing both one after the other. I enjoyed VII more, for one tiny little reason, and that is the battle system.

It's purely subjective. But I feel that the FFIX battle system doesn't flow as well, and left me sort of frustrated at times. The VII just has better flow. It seems faster and more organized, thanks to the materia system.

Also, I'm really into sci-fi. So the look of FFVII appeals to me. Especially dystopian futures.

FFVIII is definitely above average for me, but just doesn't come all that close to the aforementioned.
Kings without their armor
Men without their honor
Spit out desecration
Pieces of a nation
Buried in the ground
Screams without a sound
Burn the castle down

Every final fantasy from IV to IX was amazing (VIII a little less so). I have a gigantic soft spot for IV, but of the ps1 games IX inches out VII.

I would rank them

1. 9
2. 7
3. 8

All of them are 10/10 for me and some of my favorite games of all time, especially 9.

7 is definitely my favorite closely followed by 9 and then 8. But I do think 9 is a bit underrated by some, IMO it's one of the best RPG's ever. When i first played 7 and 9 I was instantly sucked in, for some reason 8 didn't had the same effect.

am I the only one whose favorite of the 3 is 8...
I enjoy the battle mechanics, the role of the summons and I enjoyed the cardgame part, even though it has nothing to do with anything else in the game.
Lets keep in mind though that my favorite character in 7 was Cait Sith but he was a cat based off Scottish legends wearing a crown and riding a mog.
My point being I also like 7.

i hate to agree with the masses, but i like ff7, the character designs were so good, and their attack movements were so artistic. it had a charm to it.

For me it ranges from VIII - VII - IX with VIII being my favorite. They are really close together though. IX is my least favorite because it was "a bit more easy" than the other game. No insane materia/summon collecting, no uber hard bosses (Ozma and Hades are pushovers).

But all three are fantastic. If anyone comes up to me and would ask what PS1 games they need to play. I would say FF VII/VIII/IX and Metal Gear Solid.

maybe try bringing it to a professional disk re-surfacer. I have the same issue with my Lunar 2 Eternal Blue disk 2 (I put 19 hours in and when I entered the white dragon cave... my game goes black and doesn't load the next screen). I'm driving this weekend to new orleans so I may stop at a local game store and get it worked on. If I do I'll let you know if it works for me.
