Just went and picked up a few games including "Kim Possible: What's the Switch?". The response (other than the odd look) from the guy at the counter* was; "Why?". I've been told it was a good game so I picked it up, I hope I wasn't lied to and now am stuck with a terrible kiddie game!

*I did know the guy, so he knew I was married but had no kids and he wasn't just being an ass.

YES lol, I was trading in some old games at gamestop and took in my little sister's copy of Petz Bunnies for the DS, and he looked at the game and literally broke out into laughter at me... (I had some explaining to do)

Ds Games!

yes, since I pretty much only buy ds games I already get funny looks sometimes, so you can imagine when I buy a game like soul bubbles, heart gold, emergency disaster rescue squad, kirby, or a lego game. I do most of my shopping online though so I'm usually ok :)

I don't guess. I usually only buy locally if it's a really good deal, and if I do, I'm just glad I got a great deal on something I was looking for.

Not that I've noticed, but I'm preparing myself for it for when Catherine is released...
Maybe I'll mail order that one.
So says Mr. Stewart.

The weirdest look I ever got was for buying Final Fantasy 10-2.

After playing for about 5 minutes I realized why.

I figured people were just immature and judged it by the cover, but I was very very wrong lol
I played for a few hours, but once the dress-up thing happened I just put it away and finally came to the realization that Final Fantasy is not only dead, but beaten to death by Enix

I liked Final Fantasy 10-2 a lot. The dress system was just a variation of the class system, something long Final Fantasy fans would already be used to. You could be thieves, white/black mages, etc. Same stuff we're already used to. Lots of fun for me. I also liked the soundtrack.

One time, during the Modern Warfare 2 release at Gamestop, my friend waited in line and asked if they had a copy of Two Worlds in the back. Not only was the clerk shocked, he yelled into the back asking to see if they had it and we heard a big booming voice repeat: "TWOOH WURRLDZ??" Needless to say everyone in the gigantic line was laughing at us, but we thought it was funny as well.

Twice, and these looks were accompanied by rude remarks as well.

First, it was when I bought Rock Band 2 (the full set) for the Wii. I didn't own an Xbox 360 or a PS3 at the time, and they weren't selling it anywhere. They had ample sets for the other systems but not the Wii. I went to Best Buy and asked if they had it, and the little twerp laughed and said "No, we don't stock it for the Wii. The Wii sucks, anyway, just get it for the 360". If the law didn't forbid me to do so, I would have punched him.

The second incident was at an EB Games. I was looking for the Suikoden game on the DS and I asked the girl behind the counter. She didn't know how to spell it, which was not a problem and I told her. It wasn't listed on their system and she asked her co-worker if he knew was I was talking about. His response: "Yeah, it's one of those gay role-playing games". They both laughed. Again, if violence was allowable, my foot would have connected sharply with his ass.

That's completely uncalled for. Did you report any of them to a supervisor?

The the first case, no, but I did in the second case. I called later and asked to speak with the manager of the EB Games and explained the situation. The manager was, politely put, completely useless. He didn't seem to care and even had the nerve to say "What do you expect me to do? I hire kids and they're paid minimum wage." He assumed no responsibility for the conduct of his staff and didn't seem interested in acting on my complaint.

I wrote a letter to the head office, calling out both the rude staff member and the manager by name, but I never received a response. This is what started my boycott of Gamespot and EB Games. As if their high prices for used titles, stingy trade-in policy and abundance of stickers isn't bad enough, dealing with rude staff was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Wow, If I was ever treated like that at a GameStop I'd relentlessly call and write (real physical snail mail letters, not emails) until I got a personal response or got some sort of result.

I would normally do the same thing, but there seems to be this company-wide apathy and little interest at any level to address the piss-poor standard of customer service. It's too much aggrivation for me, so I have made the decision not to every shop there again and I never miss an opportunity to bash them. From what I'm reading and hearing online, I'm definitely not alone.

Indeed they don't, and believe me, I spend a lot on games. No matter, that just gives me added incentive to put my money into my favorite independent game stores :D

But Pokémon, Kirby and Lego games are great!
I can sort of understand the looks for the lego game, but Pokémon and Kirby?
I've never heard of the other two.

Chances are that people didn't know much about Kirby games and saw a pink kiddy cover

I hope that he meant it was sad you were trading in a game he found to be amazing.
When employees talk like that it really isn't good for business. But what would an average employee of a huge chain care?

That is absolutely horrible they treated you like that. You should of called customer feedback and complained. More then likely the manager would of lost his/her job or would of been wrote up. I know back when I worked there,if someone complained to customer feedback the district manager would of come in the next day and dealt with that employee. You could of also thrown in to customer feedback that since you were treated so horribly, you will be buying your games off of eBay. haha. Gamestop doesn't like losing money.

I don't think anyone in the store I used to work at ever treated customers badly. I know if there was ever an issue, we would try to work it through with customers. But I know some Gamestops have horrible employees. I've been to a couple where the employee would try to lie or whatever to me, but luckily since I worked there I know what's true and what's not. So I usually tell them off straight up and they stop with their crap.

Anyway on topic - I got weird looks when I purchased Katamari Damacy. My husband sold it to me (this was before we were friends, let a lone married ;p). I informed him it was a fun game. Now that I've actually showed it to him,he enjoys it too lol.
