I am going to buy a ps3 or xbox 360 soon and I was wandering what everyone's opinion is on which one I should go for. |

It all depends on what you like. Tell me what genres and stuff and I can easily give you which will be the better system for you. |

And at the very same time the PS3 is just as awesome with Killzone 3, Uncharted 1 and 2, Demon's Souls and God of War. I don't think it is a matter of what games you like but what exclusives do you want to play. Both machines are great. Both have great exclusives and both have a vast assortment of multiplatforms that are nearly identical. The 360 has quite a bit of older titles at bargain prices that you won't get on PS3 or that the PS3 versiosn weren't very good ports. Anything past 2009 or so it doesn't really matter. |

This is probably the most common question I see people asking on this forum as well as others. As others have said, it all boils down to what kind of gamer you are and what games you want to get into. With a few exceptions, cross-platform titles are the same on both the 360 and the PS3, so what you prefer in terms of console exclusives should be what guides your decision. There are other factors, such as the quality of the online experience and whether you prefer achievements or trophies, but the games should ultimately be the main selling point. Do your research and see what is most appealing for you personally. I own both the 360 and the PS3 and I love them both, so I couldn't tell you which is best to be honest. |

Dark Souls is coming to 360 so don't worry about that! Just replace Demon's Souls with Heavy Rain. J/K I love my 360 but am still going to pick up a PS3, they're both fine systems. I got the 360 because of the online component (I use it to keep in touch with family a lot) and because it came out first. The PS3 makes a fantastic Blu-Ray player if that matters, much better than those $100 pieces of junk you can find out there now. Do you know a lot of people who have one or the other? Being able to play with them might impact your decision. Edited by SCScanlan, Mar 14 2011, 02:18 AM.

PS3. You don't have to pay for online. Gamers, will pay for anything and then praise it. Watch, someday in the future, a game company is going to sell you a game. Then to play online you have to pay for that (OMG BEST ONLIEN EVAR!), then you try to play the game, but oh...you can't. To play the game you have to buy an activation code, just to play it, after you already bought the disc. Gamers will inevitably praise it too. There is NO reason to sell something, other people can give away for FREE. I know $60 a year doesn't seem like much, but when you think about it, you buy PS+ for $50 (I think) and you get free games, discounts on games and DLC, access to games/dlc/demos early, and it actually pays for itself. What do you get with a $60 live subscription? Nothing. You get the 'ability' to play online, and buy (more) online. Yay. Plus with the PS3, you can upgrade your HDD yourself. You don't need a special HDD. Blu-Ray support. |

Of course it comes down to which exclusive games you're more interested in (luckily, a fair number of 360 exclusives have been ported to the PS3), but from a hardware perspective I much prefer the PS3. I find it generally runs better, free online, better downloadable games in my opinion, I prefer the trophy system, and it's a great buy if you don't already have a blu-ray player. Just my two cents. And the PS3 has the better Katamari game, so I think the winner is pretty clear.

That I disagree with, and I hear it a lot. Yes you pay for XBL but it's a much better system for on-line socialization and game playing. It's like comparing free public transportation to a nice car, both of them will get you there but one is a higher end experience. |

I just don't see it. I don't own a 360, but most of my friends do. I've went to their houses, played online, I just don't like the UI of the 360, and I can't tell much of a difference in online play honestly. |

with little info to work on just do what most people have already said and check out the exclusives available. Don't listen to people who tell you what console to buy without reason. The online service is optional btw so that shouldn't be a big factor when deciding unless you're an avid multiplayer person. |

All you commented was "Definitely get a 360..." with zero explanation or reasoning. At least he provided an opinion with a logical background to offer aid, not just flame. Obviously a console war thread causes the fanboys to creep out from under their bridge, but come on, at least Try to hide it. |

What it really comes down to is exclusives, Microsofts Fable, Halo, Gears, etc. and Sony has a lot more such as Uncharted, Resistance, Ratchet, inFamous, God of War, plus all the PS2 games getting remade. As for online, although u have to pay for XBL, it is much better imo when compared to the Playstation Network, more feature, easier to connect and chat with friends |

Ok then. Jokes obviously don't go down well on here lol. Guess someone else has crawled out from under said bridge hey Anyway fair enough, I didn't give a reason (lazy).. if you want God Of War 3 or Uncharted or Little Big Planet go the PS3 definitely. If you enjoy online gaming ie. Arcade, Shooters, Sports, or anything other then the PS3 exclusives go the 360. |

i no longer own a current generation console. I have lost faith in both sony and microsoft and am actually seriously considering getting a wii. I was in the 360 camp before i sold it though. It had the exclusives i wanted, or at least got them before ps3 and it has an awesome xbl arcade games selection. Personally i think most of the xbl games are overpriced though. Either way, your buying into systems that are both notorious for failure, I dont think anyone would argue that this generations machines have been the least reliable yet. So be sure where you wanna throw your money. Like i said, i sold mine and am just gonna stock up on some older titles i've wanted for a long time. At least ill still be able to play them in 10yrs. P.S. You thought of opting for a pc? |
