i have recently been playing alot of marvel vs capcom 2 with a mate. He uses lots of combos and such whereas i switch throw a few basic attacks then switch again. when we play its fairly even, but he keeps saying im not playing fair. So the point off this thread is so what do you consider fair play.

I personally think anything goes really.

If someone keeps doing something you dont like, then you should probably learn how to avoid it or stop them from executing it.

Yea, saying something isn't fair is really just not going to work. Everything you can do in a game is fair, it's not like there are any cheats enabled or any hacking. Like kharnivore said, everything is fair. If something wasn't fair, it wouldn't be in the game. Sure there might be some characters that are a little better than others, or easier to use, but those characters are available to everyone, so nothing isn't fair. People need to learn a lot of fighting games aren't really pick up and play if your playing against someone that's at least half way decent. It takes some time to learn combos and how to react to things, and what to do in certain situations. Not knowing how to deal with your opponent doesn't mean it isn't fair, it means he's found a way to beat you and you can't figure out what to do about it yet.

Depending on the game I'll complain about certain things being cheap, but as for MvC2 it's no holds barred.

Well, talking about fighting games i think there are a few things that aren't really fair. I have never played Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but for example in Street Fighter, spamming Hadoukens is considered unfair. Shure an expert player knows how to deal with them, but the average player doesn't.

if thats the case just time your jumps, get in close and make him pay for being a "one move man" as we call it where i grew up.

Just means that the other player isnt really that skilled, but he's found a move and is hoping that chance will work his way. Even if you cant time the jumps too well, you can close in and just block when it connects. They dont take off that much energy when blocking. ;)

Street Fighter isn't made for average players :) and a hadouken is very easy to read and leaves you open for punishment, and a lot of things were added in street fighter 4 such as EX attacks that go through any projectiles.

Its always typical when your playing with friends (especially when your in the same room) that the other people starts bitching when hes losing. IMO, aslong as your not cheating everything is fine. Althought i understand that its annoying when the other person is way better in the game.

I agree with everything KingJames has to say. Those moves/options would not be in the game if they were not fair and available to everyone. You two just have very different fighting styles, and apparently his is not working for him. Sounds like your friend is just upset with losing and using the excuse that you are cheating.
