Hey guys, i want to play a good horror game. However i havent really played any horror games before and i kinda want one that is a little scary but not too scary. I also dont like it when they focus on cheap scares. I like more of psycological scares. If you can help me out that'd be nice. PLZ dont be a troll and say Luigi's mansion. Also it cant be too rare and expensive.

Get American McGee's Alice on the PC it's pretty twisted or you could just wait for part 2 to come out on consoles if your not a PC gamer.

I would say try a game called Cursed Mountain on the Wii. Its a pretty scary game but not too scary it should be a good starter horror game.

If you want a "psychological scare", then something like Silent Hill would be right up your alley.

Project Zero/Fatal Frame games would be worth looking at too.

Jup, go with either Silent Hill 2 or 3. I prefer part2.
Silent Hill 4: The Room is a good third choice!

They can be quite unnverving though, both games always gimme quite a unpleasant feeling.....mostly because the sound design & music is so freakin' amazing.

If you want Psychological Scares, i'd totally reccomend Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It's not really a game where you jump on your chair because you get scared, but it's kind of something different; the game kind of builds a tension on you.

If you want a game that you really jump off your chair (well, not exactly, but you get it), i'd totally reccomend the Dead Space Series. Not only is it friggin' scary, but it's also a really good game in it's own regards.

Clock Tower series, Fatal Frame series, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
well thats half of my picks right there haha.

Silent hill obviously, realms of the haunting on pc if you can get it running. Phantasmagoria on pc of you can stand fmv point and click adventures.

Hell, doom 3 is pretty damn scary too with the lights off!

I agree with everyone who has said Fatal Frame! Those are wonderful games and they are on the PS2. The newest one is on the Wii but has not been released outside of Japan. My personal favorite is the second one - Fatal Frame : Crimson Butterfly. But the other two are great as well. ^^

Resident Evil 2 always scared me when I was younger, the newer games not so much. Dead Space 2 has a few scares but not much, decent game though.

Oh, and System Shock 2 always got me. You would be doing something, searching around, and then turn around with an enemy just waiting to scare the crap out of you before attacking.
