With the 3DS coming out, I know that some DS game prices are going to drop, others are going to go up...but I am going to start collecting for my DS, which I just refurbished on my own with a new shell, and new screens, very soon. I only have Pokemon White, HeartGold, Platinum, Sword of Mana, Mega Man StarForce 3 Red Joker, Kingdom Hearts 358/2, and SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters.

I'm really into RPGs, Platformers, adventure games, and strategy games. With both what I already own and this in mind, what games do you guys suggest?

I know I want the Mario and Luigi games and the new Donkey Kong game. But what else is out there for me? The DS has a HUGE library, and since I don't follow the DS much, I know I missed out on a lot of great games.

resident evil: deadly silence, Contact
Castlevania: portrait of Ruin
Legacy of ys: books I and II
If you have a PSP, I would recommend Ys I & II Chronicles over the DS version.
yeah the DS version blows compared to the FANTASTIC PSP version

Buy Radiant Historia when it reprints in march. One of the best JRPGs on the system.
There reprinting it, good i've been meaning to get that one.

I came across this bit of discussion a while back that is probably the most comprehensive discussion of the DS' best games that I've ever seen. It's become an incredibly useful tool for tracking down interesting games for the system:

I'd also recommend Super Robot Taisen OG Saga if you can find it. I've been playing that for the last few days and it's been a ton of fun. It's a pretty straightforward JRPG with a somewhat action-oriented battle system, but the story has been a fun ride so far. Very anime-inspired, and riddled with boob jokes. Good times! :)

The Trauma Center games are quite good as is rhythm heaven and if you like strategy games I would recommend the Mystery Dungeon games as great starter rougelike.

Get WarioWare Touched!
and people always seem to forget:
Feel the Magic: XY/XX
The Rub Rabbits!

they are some early releases, but quite enjoyable!

Of course you should get the Ace Attorney series and Dragon Quest, along with Chrono Trigger (if you didn't play it yet), The World Ends With You and Professor Layton.

I'm really liking Ninja Town right now. Maybe you'll like it, too. It's a tower defense game with some personality. Check out some gameplay videos and see if you like. I tend to see it for about $25, so it could be a slightly risky buy.

My recommendation list is as follows
Wario: Master of Disguise: Sure it's gimmicky, sure it's not the most eventful game, but it absolutely has one of the most original concepts I've seen in a platformer. It's kind of like Kirby but you can choose your power ups, and you need to use those power ups to solve puzzles within the levels. The layout is sort of a cross between a linear platformer, and a Metroidvania style exploration game. It never gets too ridiculous with it's backtracking though, making it nice for anyone who wants an easy start into games with many branching paths.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series: If you like Turn Based Strategy RPGs such as Fire Emblem, I guarantee you will love this. The 3DS version of the first one is marginally better (and less expensive) featuring voice acting (well done voice acting aside from one character) and an additional chapter, so I would say get that one if you have access to a 3DS though.
Tetris DS: Sure it might seem obvious, but this is a must have. Best version of Tetris I have ever played. There are 6 different game modes included and all are a lot of fun and based around retro games. Very neat.
Kingdom Hearts games: Both 358/2 Days and Re:Coded control very smoothly and are a lot of fun to play. It's pretty much your typical Kingdom Hearts. If you like the series, you'll like these games.
