Unplug all USB items except for the mouse and keyboard and restart your computer then try it. Post back here with your results.

Ok, if you have extra memory added to it, try removing the extra memory chip. If that doesn't solve your issue, then the problem is more than likely dust built up inside the computer, or you have some kind of software issue. If it is a software issue, it can be really hard to track down, especially if you can't do anything before the computer locks up. If none of that works, you may have to attempt a factory install. That will wipe everything you have saved off of your hard drive though.

probably a bunch of dust packed around the processor or video chipset. You could try to vacuum it out from the back, or try to blow it out with some air. Either that or you have a bad hard drive or motherboard.

I highly doubt it. Plus that would be an expensive upgrade only to find out the problem was still there or it wouldn't stay on long enough to even do the upgrade.

When and where did you get the laptop? See if they have a service to check it out or exchange it if possible. I know Best Buy has a great warranty service if you paid for it. Well worth 90 bucks for 3 years.
