I out of the blue decided to go into my goodwill today even though they had nothing worth while yesterday. This is why you always check those places as much as possible.

WIN! And it's in perfect working condition. Only came with one game, Red Alarm. The whole thing with game was $25. Not a bad deal, especially considering I've never seen one in person before in my life.

It's exactly why you should drop in as much as possible. Like I said, there was nothing there yesterday... I scoured the store for games for it, but I only found the one that was with it. If someone trades in a system, they usually trade in all the games too, so I'll have to keep checking back over the next few days after work.

I'm shocked that a Goodwill would charge $25 for something that looks like that lol. They tend to know nothing about video games, I would have expected it to be priced around $10. Still an epic find. Red Alarm is a pretty sweet game too, really like the soundtrack.

Yeah, it works perfect. Kept going back all week, but didn't find anymore games for it. It's a little pricey considering it's goodwill, but a decent price for the item anyway. Manager must have known what it was.

Nice find! I found one without the stand for $13, but the only stands I see on ebay are like 40-50 bucks!

Yeah, well I have a GoodWill horror story.

I was looking specifically for a Sega Saturn at the flea market this past sunday, a guy had one, was real nice. Said he'd sell it when he got all the cords from someone along with 6 rare games that he had for it for 25 bucks to me. I told him I'd be by later to buy it and it hold it for me. He agreed.

Went back later and he said HE SOLD IT FOR 15 BUCKS.

Needless to say, I was pissed...

THEN GUESS WHAT? Walked into my GoodWill the other day...GUESS WHO WAS WORKING THERE? That guy. I KNOW he got that Saturn there. I KNOW he got the games he had there as well...it was all clear, because they had a lot of Genesis games in a glass case the week before, they were all gone...then I realized the games I saw on his table at the flea market were the ones in the case...

What an asshole, man. Absolutely bullshit.

my local thrift stores rarely have any game stuff. The only stuff I do find are xbox game or madden stuff and then I find a rare gameboy color or 1st gen GBA.

I've picked up Crash Warped, Mario Kart 64, & South Park Rally N64 from my goodwill. $3 each. That was in about 20 visits to the same one lol. It's awesome when you do get that one that you find in the wild.

Best deal I've ever found in a thrift store was a Gamecube bundle for $40. Included 3 controllers, Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem, Chibi Robo, Luigi's Mansion, and another seven $5-10 games. In the end, I ended up valuing the bundle around $150 when I researched it.

I've also found other Misc deals like all Pokemon GB + GBC games for $15 total, Super Metroid & Zelda Link to the Past for $4 each, and L.A. Noire for $17. My area is really untapped by resellers but it does take a lot of driving to find all the deals locally. Also helps to know somebody with a resurfacing machine for those disc games you find in the wild :/

So hard to find good games at my local good wills and salvation army. Even have this place called Savers but they charge a ridiculous 5 bucks for NES games and 7 for PS2 games.

I see this a lot myself. I even caught a Goodwill employee selling crap he got from the place he worked at a flea market, LOL

Ive seen people pull crap out of the free bin at my local dump, and I heard this guy yell to his wife, "How much ya think we can get for this?"

My Goodwill has decent deals every now and then. With so many people getting into collecting (and more people getting into reselling), it is really getting hard to find a good deal. Everybody thinks every old game/system is worth so much. It is really hurting collecting when Flea Markets want people to pay $40 for a loose copy of Super Mario World just because it has Mario on it.

I honestly believe Goodwill and yard sales are the last places to find good deals on retro games. I've mentioned this before, but I picked up a Virtual Boy this summer with the stand, eyepiece, controller, AC adaptor, and 4 games (two of which were japanese) at a yardsale for $10. They couldn't take my money fast enough.

Wow, that's a great Goodwill find! They usually overprice their systems, even if they don't know what they're worth.

...I almost fainted when I you said "$25" for a working VB with Red Alarm. That has got to be the best deal on a VB I have ever seen. Man, I gotta start going to my local Goodwill store.
