List your favorites please! :D no need to pick one genre of game. (I am more of a retro guy but if it's current and really worth checking out I'll take the info)

I've always really enjoyed love driven games for some reason. Lunar 1 and 2 are some of my favorites as well as the story of Locke and Celes in FFVI

I'm a fan of Alys/Rune and Chaz/Rika in Phantasy Star IV.

Also, I'm a crazy shipper of Link/Zelda.

Squall and Rinoa from FFVIII

Tidus and Yuna from FFX

they're not exactly part of a specific love story in particular but its what I could think of off the top of my head whenever I think of love in video games

Have to agree with you here. I love FF VIII and while I can't stand Tidus and his whiny voice... I do really like the story between he and Yuna

I really enjoyed the relationship between Tidus and Yuna, too.

One that I really REALLY enjoy is the relationship between Elly and Faye from Xenogears. Good God so much could be said about their relationship.

Lufia 2 with Maxim and Selan with Tia trying to pine for Maxim.

Estelle and Joshua from Trails in the Sky (A little bit of an oddity for some, perhaps.)

I liked Cless and Mint from Tales of Phantasia, too. It's mainly due to the one scene near the end of the game in the final town right before the final dungeon. Cool cool stuff.

Yourself and your wife from Dragon Quest V. The subtle yet powerful emotional connection between the player and his character's family is what really drives the game and makes it stand out from the others in its franchise (which is no small feat, considering how excellent a franchise it is).

Also, Junpei and Whatsherface from Persona 3. Honestly, I don't even care about Whatsherface; I never found her character interesting. But Junpei is so wonderfully developed and lovable, and giving him a tragic love interest gave him many moments to really shine as a character.

That's a rather interesting pick with DQ V. I kind felt that in the later versions (the DS version was the first that I played) the option to choose a wife detracts a little bit from their relationship. However, that's simply how I felt. An excellent choice in game, definitely my favorite in the series.

As a joke response:p

Blaster Master (The US version's story). Jason must've REALLY loved that frog to gone after it and gone through what he did. Well, I guess I would've taken SOPHIA THE 3RD for a spin, too...

Thanks for some great picks guys! A lot of those I have not played before so it looks like I have some money to get rid of hahaha.

One of my absolute favorites (as you can tell by the massive sig I have) is between Wander and Mono from Shadow of the Colossus. This love story is so memorable due to the insurmountable task Wander must go through to see his love once more. For those who don't know Mono has been killed due to some others beliefs that she lives with a curse. Wander brings her to the forbidden land and must defeat 16 colossi for her to return... I won't go any further as those who have played the game actually know how things turned out. If you haven't played it.... PICK UP A COPY RIGHT NOW!!!!!

Gah, I want that so bad! Especially since I never really did play Ico (scandalous, I know).
But I have to choose between that and Skyward Sword... And I really want that shiny Wii Motion Plus...

Can anyone think of a game that does a good job of going with a humorous take on romance? Not necessarily a romance comedy. but more like some of the anime out there where it's not a serious love story but something that makes you chuckle. I want to say something like Tenchi Muyo or Infinite Stratos, but those are still more harem-like anime, which isn't quite what I'm thinking of and I'm not even sure if such a game would exist outside of dating simulators. :/

I actually have one for you man hahaha. Thousand Arms is a far to little recognized RPG put out by Atlus on the PS1. In what might be the most interesting RPG I have ever played, Thousand Arms has truly a unique take on the RPG genre. You play as a young spirit blacksmith who can only forge better weapons by going out on dates and building relationships with different girls. This game doesn't take itself to seriously and some of the questions you get asked on your dates made me crack up! I guess in a way it is a dating sim but like I said, the questions you get asked are incredibly off the wall and hilarious!

The battle system in this game can be a big turn off for some but I ended up getting used to it after a few hours in. The only negative I have about this game is that the music is very repetitive and most songs are quite uninspiring....

Oh one last thing.... the graphic style is very similar to some anime's out there. In fact, I think it has some of the best graphics on the ps1

I remember seeing that game once at a local EB waaaaay back when they still stocked PS1 games there. I didn't pick it up and always kicked myself for it. One of these days I need to try and track it down again. Sounds like it would be a game worth spending some time with. :)

As said before Yuna and Tidus was great and I'm probably one of the few people who actually like Tidus.

But my favorite is probably Cecil and Rosa from Final Fantasy IV, it's such a underrated FF, you guys should check it out on the DS if you can.

I think Squall and Rinoa from FFVIII were the most relatable to me on a personal level due to his uh... reluctance to really show affection toward her...

Also it's not love in the sense between a man and a woman but I thought Tidus and Jecht's father-son relationship was also pretty poignant. When he

I was actually very close to buying phantasy star IV today... unfortunately the guy wanted 25 dollars for just the cart... thanks but no thanks.
