Originally i was going to build a AMD pc but i've done a lot of researching and comparing and i've come to the conclusion that AMD has totally dropped the ball with the FX line and their Phenom line is starting to show it's age and their new llano APU is nothing more than a Athlon II x4 with a GPU attached to it. so i've decided to Go with a Intel Core i3 2100 setup.

memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428 G.SKILL ddr3 1600 8gb
HardDisk: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148701 Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 1TB
Videocard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908 AMD HD Radeon 6850 with free copy of Dirt3
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115078 Intel Core i3 2100 3.1ghz
MotherBoard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128502 Gigabyte Z68 mobo

oh and my CASE is the same as before it's a Raidmax Smilodon with a 500watt PSU.

Sega Does What Nintendon't

If you dont care to spend $15.00 more dollars then I would recommend a Gigabyte board.

GIGABYTE GA-A75M-D2H

This one is close to what you had picked out but for a few dollars more your getting 2 PCIe slots and more features plus Gigabyte quality!!!

I have built a lot of PC's and Gigabyte has never let me down!

well i was thinking the AsRock because AsRock is the Bargain Brand from ASUS and i've always Used ASUS Boards, also i chose this because since the APU can cross fire with a videocard there was no need for two video slots. then again later on i may need 2 slots for more powerful crossfire so i may get something like that gigabyte board or the AsRock version.

Why only 320gb on the hard drive? Surely you'd want more, and tb drives aren't much more than what you posted. Also any considerations for a solid state drive? I'm hearing great things about them.

Well I wanted a Complete HDD set thats not expensive as most are over a hundred dollars and most of the cheap ones are just bare drives with no instructions or needed hookups. I may get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533 i'd have to get hook ups for it wich are relatively cheap. gonna be interesting this will be my first all SATA computer as the one i'm on is IDE/SATA.

Your motherboard should come with sata cables so no need to worry about that. OEM is the only way I buy drives because you save a lot and the manual dont give you any useful information anyways.

My last build (not counting the one I just built today) was a AMD Phenom II 940 Black Edition with a ASUS Crosshair II Formula ROG board and I had so much trouble with the drivers / BIOS on that board it has turned me away from ASUS. It didn't want to run 1066 memory like it should until they finally got it working with a BIOS update. After they got the Bios sorted out it turned out to be a great board but it did take them longer than I would of expected for a ROG edition board.

hmm well hopefully this asrock board doesn't mess up like that,i haven't had trouble with this asus board up until now so thats about 4/5 years no problem. i been reading reviews on those asrock boards not just at new egg but at other sites and they generally get a positive rating especially the new uefi gui bios wich makes setup easier.

update: I decided to Not go the APU route and instead i'm going to Focus on a regular pc rig. Instead of the A8-3850 2.9ghz APU unit i'm going with a AMD FX 4100 3.6ghz "Bulldozer" CPU unit and a Socket AM3+ mobo. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1430097 the article says only 3.1ghz but thats a typo the 4100 is 3.6. and for video i'm going with a Radeon HD 6850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908

Yeah after doing more studying on the APU i realized all it is really is an Athlon X4 quad with a bargain video chip attached. I looked up Benchmarks and the Bulldozers are going to be awesome while still no where near core i7 level of performance and even some of the i5 line it's still a good line of processors.

Somewhat related...I was looking at hard drives recently and WOW they got really expensive. Like, nearly 4x the price I paid not even a few months ago. I want to say I got my 1TB hard drive for around $60 in June and now they're $200 plus! Apparently flooding/earthquakes throughout Asia has caused a huge shortage of parts/labor for a lot of the big companies like Seagate and Western Digital. Not a good time to be buying a computer unfortunately.

yeah mostly the flooding in thailand has caused the hard drive factories in the area to shutdown. today i recieved the motherboard in the mail and to my shock the the board has pci express 3.0 as well as usb 3.0 and is ivy bridge ready it said none of that on the info page on all the shop sites and the box was different too so i'm excited now cause i was expecting only partial compatibility not full.
