Hey all,

Last month my 360, PS3 and games were stolen. I am getting a check for the stolen systems and games to a total of about $1200.

However, I did some soul searching whils't gameless and decided that I want to use that money to build up a quality collection of one old system.

What in your opinion, should I get?

"Steve, it is really up to what you like and want."

Understood, so here are some of my opinions as to help you form recommendations.

I am a huge fan of playability. Graphics are important to me, but not nearly as important as smooth transitioning, fun consoles and games.

I want something where I can find and trade quality games rather easily at shops, and has a big enough community to get my trade on.

I like a variety of games, I appreciate the older classics for what they did for gaming, but can't say they are my favorite. I like action RPG'S, historical action games and some fantasy, but not future fantasy, and one's that stimulate your mind. My favorite game of all time is Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I have a Genesis and a Nintendo, N64 and Super Nintendo.

While typing this I am thinking Dreamcast...Any other suggestions?

I was thinking Dreamcast as well but to be honest with you the ps2 would probably be your best option. I'd go with the dreamcast myself but the game library for the ps2 is just so huge.

Well, I dusted off the Dreamcast a while ago, and forgot that I had Code Veronica on it (thankfully before I bought a PS2 copy).

I'm happy that I have it. I will be having a Shenmue Christmas this year.

Also, if you want a more realistic flight simulator (and not an arcade game), Aerowings is ok, but tough! Gigawing is a badass arcade shooter.

People rave about Soul Calibur, but I would rather play Soul Calibur 2 on PS2 or Came Cube/

So it's really PS2 or Dreamcast, which were my top-2 coming in. Guess I'll go ro the store and see their system/game inventory to decide between the 2z

Dreamcast is kinda rpg scarce.
ps2 is always good for RPGS and is big among collectors.
personally I would say starts getting some SNES games.
great RPGs very replayable games and more often than not well priced.

Sega Does What Nintendon't

I would recommend you getting the PS2. I am a huge Sega Fan but really the PS2 library of games is unmatched. Its only one generation behind current so you still have nice graphics.

If your wanting more of a in home arcade experience from a console then I would recommend the Dreamcast over the PS2 but your not going to get a lot of RPG's and Strategy games. The ones that are on the console are great games there just isn't more than a handful.

Also you are going to find PS2 games everywhere while you might have to seek out Dreamcast stuff.

I'm gonna go with the majority of the posts here. PS2 would give you a lot for your money. The console and the games are very cheap now and it's library is unmatched

Id have to say the exact same thing. The cost of the games too, ps2 games are cheap as hell, even a lot of the great titles.

If you want a huge library of GREAT FUN GAMES, Id go with the classic Playstation 2. Had a huge library of great games (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, Killzone) and had so many more. It is my favorite game console of all time, and also my first.

You can also get so many games for cheap. Like for 100-200 dollars you can buy bundles of 100+ PS2 games. Its a great deal.
