PS2 = Greatest console of all-time?

Apprentice of Mark Nutt Posts: 346 Group: Members Member #3,689 Joined: Apr 8, 2011	I was wondering if anybody else thought that the PS2 was the greatest console of all-time. It will always be my favorite because I got so much enjoyment. The library of games is unmatched in my opinion. The games on it were so good, I always went to a midnight launch when I could. Nothing like staying home from school to play the new Ratchet and Clank that just came out So, is the PS2 your favorite console of all-time. If not, where would you rank it? Nothing can even match the great line of titles the PS2. From the casual hunting game to the hardcore Final Fantasy game the PS2 had much to offer. I use to have a lot of fun playing PS2 with my friends. I spent hours with my friend playing all the Smackdown vs Raw games (my personal favorite being 2008). I've thought about buying one sometimes soon. I really want to play Final Fantasy X. I borrowed one of my friends PS2 for a weekend once and started playing it. I loved the game so much and I really want to finish it some day.

The only thing I don't like are the lap tops (though the new models seem quite nice).

Each and every time I think about buying some games I start with the PS2, that library can please every single gamer. Still lovin' the SNES more though.

Its the console i have the biggest library for, though this due to the games being so cheap and available pretty much anywhere. I prefer the original Xbox over PS2 to be honest. Though not the greatest ports, Doom3 and Morrowind turn the console in my favour...not to mention KOTOR 1+2 and Forza. I prefer the xbox pad too, the sticks on the PS just feel really un-natural and get quite uncomfortable after a while. The ability to listen to my own soundtracks during gameplay and the abilty to mod it for music/movies and emulators is just a bonus.

It doesn't really matter what genre you're into, there'll be a lot of good choices for it, and the thing was backward compatible with the PS1, allowing you to play even more fabulous games. I also rather like the SNES and the Dreamcast, but I just can't put them ahead of the PS2's massive, quality library of games.

I just have tons and tons of great memories of it from growing up, and besides the nostalgia I still pick up bulks of games for it from time to time, and usually there's a few good gems in there. But most importantly, it has Contra, how can you even beat that? xD

It literally has thousands of games in every genre imaginable, from racing games, open world crime games, platformers, FPS games, puzzlers, strategy games, simulators, RPGs, fighters and much more. And the fact that it is still selling 12 years after its release stands by the fact it is the best console ever.
