So what do you guys think of Uncharted 3?

I thought it was pretty good, but story wise probably the worst of the three. The story felt too short and the characters didn't seem to have as much depth as the first two games. But, I did like that it focused a lot on Drake and Sully, and their history together. Multiplayer wise; I think it has a lot of improvements but I still seem to like Uncharted 2's multiplayer more for some reason.

Overall, it's a good addition to the Uncharted series, and didn't disappoint, but Uncharted 2 is still on top of the games. Which, I didn't expect Naughty Dog to be able to top Uncharted 2 anyway.

I still gotta get it, probably this week though. I'm super fucking excited. Surely the story can't be worse than Drake's Fortune though? What a terrible game...

Drake's Fortune had a really good storyline! I'm not saying it's bad, but it's not as developed as the first two.

Ahhh maybe it did, I was too busy focusing on how broken everything else was. It all kinda just meshed together by the end of it.

Anyways, getting the game for sure this weekend. I can't fucking wait.

Just finished the game this week, and the graphics were mind blowing and awesome, but I got very tired of the combat towards the end. I also think that the 2nd game was the best when it comes to story...but maybe it's just because it was so new and fresh. Overall, I really enjoyed the game, but I feel as though I should have waited until it was on sale.

Yeah, I mean it's still a great game, but saying it's OVERALL better than Uncharted 2 is ridiculous, Uncharted 2 was almost perfect. They did improve upon some things, like the graphics, and throwing grenades back, but not as much as from Drake's Fortune to Among Thieves.

I am currently playing it and I am at Chapter 8. The game so far is a solid Uncharted game. Wonderful to look at, some quirky combat/shooting as opposed to other titles but the puzzles and exploration is nice.

I am kind of getting annoyed at the standard Uncharted quirks like: Hey Nate, there is a beam in the way, can you climb up and fix it? Sort of force feeding you the puzzles.

Nifty stealth sequences that get broken up because you get spotted so easily in my current chapter.

So far, it is an entertaining title that looks absolutely fantastic. But it definitely does not come close to the awesomeness of U2.

I will continue on and hope to see the WOWOMGWTFBBQ-moment like the opening of U2 and the train sequence in U2...

I think it's a pretty solid game but it does need some work. I beat in around 8 hours on Hard, it just doesn't feel as good as Uncharted 2 did.

I think it actually took a step back as far as balance between fighting and puzzles. The first one was too combat-heavy and I thought #2 was a better 50/50 split. This one starts pretty even but towards the second half of the game it's pretty much all firefights and most of those are really frustrating. It's still a fun game for sure, but I think #2 is the best out of them all.

You definitely won't see anything like that in Uncharted 3. It really isn't like a movie that much, especially compared to the first two. It doesn't have any explosion sequences really. They focused A LOT on the multiplayer, and you can tell that when you finish the story.

Finished it just now! While the game definitely picks up and has some very nice action sequences in the desert, my overall feeling is disappointed. It is a great game, definitely top 10 of this year. But Naughty Dog could have done so much more.

The biggest F*ck you IMO is the fact that ND showed off one of the best action sequences in the game (airport/airplane) which takes place at the end of the game. Pacing is all over the place with this game and I would have seriously opted to play the airport/airplane and start of the desert seuqence first, like with U2.

This way you have a very nice action moment, see Drake down and out, then flashing back in the delirium. After that first adrenaline ride I can handle the less interesting Irish Pub and London sequences. I would also place the flashback to Chile in between France/Syria for better pacing.

The gameplay needs an overhaul. This focused to much on combat and especially melee combat. Those brutes and the shotgunners just run up to me "locking" me in a fistfight and thats when the snipers and RPGs obliterate you.
Almost every shootout is similar, some RPGs, 2 snipers, 2 shotgunners, 1 brute and some grunts. Every fight I did the same way and didnt struggle that much on Hard.

Storywise, I felt the secondary characters were just "added" in there. There is a clear distinction between the first 10 chapters and the final ones. You dont even hear from certain characters at some point. The new protagonist were uninteresting (Jason Statham clone and a desert pirate that is just there). The antagonists were interesting but became 2D characters towards the end, especially the main one was boring. All the hints and questions to a bigger group remain unresolved.

The final part of the game felt rushed and felt once again too similar to U2.

All in all, I sound very negative on Uncharted 3, I don't want to because it is one of the most gorgeous games I have ever seen, returns with a new tale in Drake's journey and offers more of the wonderful Uncharted gameplay that mixes combat, puzzles and exploration. But in terms of a sequel opposed to Uncharted 2, this game does not come close.

Several reviewers gave U3 a 10, calling it a unheralded cinematic masterpiece. All I can say is, play the first 10 chapters again and stop there. Nothing noteworthy there. If U3 is a 10/10, U2 is 20/10....

I agree with basically everything you said. It doesn't feel as though they took their time with the characters. While I liked the first chapters fist fights only, they kept putting more of them in there, probably just to make the game a little bit longer.

Back to the character thing, in Uncharted 2, Harry Flynn starts as your old friend, then betrays you, tries to kill you numerous times, and overall is just a better villain than anyone was in Uncharted 3, adding that to Lazaravic, who was an amazing villain as well. Even the UDF villains were better than Uncharted 3's. I think they focused too much on the multiplayer, which I do play a lot actually, but on my Crushing play-through, I found myself trying to get past the parts as quickly as possible and skipping every cut-scene because the game isn't as memorable as Uncharted 2 (which I beat over 20 times).

I enjoyed the hell out of it. It definitely wasn't perfect, and I think I enjoyed the second a bit more, but it didn't fail to disappoint.

I would say it was an entertaining simulation of being inside of an action movie, but the mix wasn't exactly perfect enough to create a MEMORABLE experience.

The waves of enemies felt like the clumsiest implementation in the game. They completely take you out of the story because they have no purpose other than to serve as the "game" part of the experience. Meanwhile, the chases and the few sparse puzzles that appear integrated play with narrative beautifully. I would have liked to see more variation towards the end of the game of platforming and puzzles with action.

I'd say you should all try it out, at least, for what it does right.

I know this is old, but I just completed it.

Wow this game annoyed the living hell out of me. It felt like I was playing horde mode since it would just throw wave after wave of enemies at you, plus throw guys with heavy armor on who would take 4 clips from an assault rifle just to kill in addition to those other enemies.
Once again I hate the
Spoiler: click to toggle

I also think they should have just scrapped the entire boat section. That whole section was terrible, and it did nothing to advance the story. Looked gorgeous but was not fun to play at all.

No doubt the graphics, and set pieces were incredible looking but even some of those were annoying to do. Also disappointed with the storyline aside from the times where they did flashbacks when Nathan, and Sully were younger. I didn't find the villains to be interesting at all, and I wanted to see more Chloe and Elena in this game.
I don't know I enjoyed looking at this game more than I liked playing it. By far my least favorite in the series which is a real shame since Uncharted 2 is one of my favorite games ever made.

For me: Uncharted 1 - 9/10. Uncharted 2 - 10/10. Uncharted 3 - 6.5-7/10. Would be lower if the set pieces weren't so incredible looking.

When Uncharted 3 came out I wasn't expecting the action to top the 2nd, I just wanted a deeper game and I got exactly what I wanted.

Uncharted 2 is no doubt the best PS3 there is and Uncharted 3 is still a top 10.

Got the game for Christmas, I'm on chapter 16 right now. Gotta say this game looks absolutely beautiful, especially in 3D. However it's honestly not as good as Uncharted 2. (Haven't yet played the first game.) I can't quite put my finger on why yet, but the second was just more enjoyable for me, and it seems most people agree here.

i got this for christmas with my ps3 and though i haven't played the first two i had to play this just to see what my ps3 can really do graphics wise, and those are amazing, i was really impressed with the shadow effects when your holding a torch in dark cave etc... . i felt there was a good balance of platforming/gun fights/puzzles except at the end were its basically all difficult fighting sequences. i especially liked the chatuea part of the game, alot of fun puzzles.
