Hey guys, well I will most likely be picking up a SNES within the next week or two, and I need some reccomendations for games to play. I have memories of playing this system at my friend's house when I was young, but never owned a SNES myself. Now I already know all of the classic games for the system that are absolute must-plays (Super Mario Land, Super Metriod, Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, etc.) but I would appreciate it if you guys could give some reccomendations for some of the lesser known games that could be considered more of hidden gems, since I already know all of the classic must-play games. Thanks.

P.S - My favorite genres are platformers, RPGS and fighters, but I will play anything.

Plok, Sunset Riders, Soul Blazer, Kirby Dream Course, KendoRage, Earthworm Jim, Legend of the Mystical Ninja. They're a variety of genre but those are the games I really like that no one seems to talk about much.

If you like a challenging shooter, Contra III: Alien Wars is highly recommended !

No problem. I also forgot to mention some others:

Lufia & Breath of Fire series. Lufia and Breath of Fire are great old school JPRGs. I've beaten Breath of Fire II multiple times. I still need to pick up the Lufia series but from what I've played, I would recommend it.

Lemmings also has a decent port that is compatible with the SNES Mouse. Battletoads in Battlemaniacs & Tetris Attack are both great as well. I know people know of F-Zero, but talk has died down a lot on the series, so I'd recommend it as more of a lesser known now :P

Actriser, easily one of my favorite games on the system. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, great beat 'em up. Last quick one to pick up, Illusion of Gaia. Think Zelda, just not quite as polished (and harder.)

Again, thanks very much to both of you, I will literally probably get all of these games, I want to try everything the SNES has to offer. :) Also, you guys should read my post "Epic goodwill fail" in the general gaming section. It ruined my whole day, I had a chance to snag one of the best SNES games and it was perfect timing since im getting one soon. :(
