I was wondering why Chris hadn't reviewed this one yet.

I love Zelda, and I downloaded the first Neutopia on the Wii Virtual Console a couple years ago. I enjoyed it, but I've been hesitant to go for the sequel. I think maybe I'll spring for Dungeon Explorer or Ys Book I & II first.

But Neutopia does have fantastic music.

It's funny, tho. As great as Zelda is, it's strange that you don't see more clones of it. Some games have copied its mechanics (ie. Star Fox Adventures, Beyond Good & Evil), but the actual game structure tends to be fairly unique to Zelda. Other than Neutopia, the original Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, and more recently, Darksiders, what other games are really like Zelda?

Zelda and Zelda-like games are more action than RPG. If you want more RPG elements, then get YS I&II, Ys IV, and Dungeon Explorer II. If you want more action, then go ahead with the Neutopia games, or maybe Xak III. While it has more RPG stylings to it than Zelda, your action skills will come more in handy than your level grinding ones.

Golden Axe Warrior for the Master System is another Zelda style game.

Also try Esper Dream 2 for the Famicom. It's not really Zelda, but has some uniqueness of its own.

Ah, I forgot about Golden Axe Warrior. Too bad it's not on the Virtual Console.

Actually, I think the thing is that most of those old Zelda clones are, well, old Zelda clones. Heck, even the original Zelda feels archaic by today's standards, and I'm somewhat spoiled by modern game design.
