Hey guys, im thinking of taking a trip to canada at some point this year. This all depends on my funds of course lol. Anyways, do any of our canadian members have any advice for a first time visitor? Best city(s) to visit, tourist locations actually worth visiting etc. I've always thought to myself, "if i move anywhere abroad it will probably be canada". So i wanna take the plunge, grab a flight and visit the hell out of it! |

I have lived in Toronto, Canada my entire life and there are plenty of great attractions in the city. I could list them here, but here is a helpful link that will give you a basic run-down of what we have to offer: http://www.toronto.ca/attractions/attraction_highlights.htm - the most famous is the CN Tower, which is a massive free-standing structure that affords you a beautiful view of the city. We also have amazing restaurants, pubs, live theater and attractions around the city. I will also say that there are a few good game stores here as well ![]() I've been to other parts of Canada as well and I can recommend some great places. Montreal, Quebec is a fantastic city full of character, historic architecture and fantastic food. Being in Quebec, the main language is French, but it's more bilingual than other parts of Quebec and you'll get by fine. Other places I've been to include Prince Edward Island, a beautiful place to visit in the summer, and Vancouver. If you have any specific questions, let me know. |

I live in Edmonton and there really isn't much to see here, except I think we still have the biggest mall in North America and just a bunch of other crap. Just avoid Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba you should be okay. Places that I have been to and enjoy, likely Vancouver and many parts of British Colombia really beautiful place, better in the Summer months though. The east coast is also really nice and also has a lot of historical sites. And I would agree on browland1 with Montreal great city lots of old and modern and poutine, and Toronto is just a really big city with lots to see. Actually Alberta has mountains if your into that.

Toronto is where i was thinking of heading, its the cheapest to fly to and it seems like there is a lot of things to do there. I was looking through tourist sites and just thought i'd ask people here, i prefer a personal opinion to a reading on some site. Really thought about quebec too, the area seems to be flush with very talented musicians and bands, i've heard countless experimental metal bands from around there and would love to see a few gigs there. Would really like to see the mountains and lakes you have too, but i reckon i'd be staying in towns for my first visit. Im thinking for the future and with what im studying at college canada seems like it could be on the cards...its that or china lol. I wanna go and just soak up the day to day life for a week or two, see how i'd feel living there etc. Biggest plans i've been working on in a while thats for sure lol. |
